The reason Gildarts wasn’t mentioned before was because the anime wasn’t expected to run as long as it did to include the parts he was involved in. In the manga, he was mentioned during the Battle of Fairy Tail so in the source material he doesn’t just come out of nowhere.
With Gildarts' appearance, you get to know all the S-class wizards of Fairy Tail. And he really is the strongest wizard. His magic can break down anything, even magic, so that's why he really is the strongest. I bet that, if Gildarts was on Magnolia when the Phantom Lords invaded or when Laxus made his coup, things wouldn't have gotten too much out of control. But you just wait, there is much more about Gildarts than meets the eye... which is something for the next arc.
about the information in anime, epi 4 the mages who captured happy, oone of then are a fortune teller, he predicted for gray is "you will have trouble with water and woman" :3
Ah... the Edolas arc... the one where Happy and Carla really shine... They will be the MVPs of the arc... I can't wait for you to watch my favorite Happy moment... that one made me tear up so much and be filled with an immense sense of pride for our little blue cat. And let's not forget about what makes Edolas so different and yet so similar to Earthland (the main world).

What irks Carla even more is that Happy doesn't have any idea everything about himself (which is understandable. He's a newborn at the time he came to their world. And that he's different with Carla). If ever, she shouldn't even be mad at all. You'll understand in the future episode.
Ironically enough if you remember Miras explanation about S class way back when she did mention there are 5 people in S class and up untill Gildarts weve only seen 4 in Laxus, Mira, Erza and Mystogen. So Gildarts fills that final slot weve heard about.
Also Hiro said he created Erza as someone for Natsu to be afraid of but for some reason he also applied it for Gray too for comedy reasons *Mashima said he had wanted to create a female character whom Natsu could be afraid of*

Well, I don't know if it is the best one of the first series, but it is ONE of the best. Personally, I love the Tenrou Island arc, because it develops characters and relationships (emphasis on "ships") in a much profound way, not to mention how much intense it gets... And the twist at the end... Wow the twist... the one that only makes everything harder for the entire Fairy Tail guild.
Tenrou arc is my favorite. The pacing was great and had lots of epic moments. Every character got their time to shine and received character development +lore and introduction of the main baddies of the show
Guys we all know why Edolas is a very emotional arc cause of that certain someone shows up in this arc. Gildarts magic is so OP like seriously to have a whole set whenever he shows up is crazy. Carla and Happy are the shining duo for this arc. The dragon Gildarts had to deal with is a very very dangerous character.
The Edolas Arc is 20 episodes long, so I hope you do more double videos. Or at least do 2 episodes a week. Otherwise you won’t be done til the end of February. The ending of this arc is one of the best and emotional ones. Come the final episode you might keep a box of tissues by your side.

I do find the concept of a century quest odd. Who would take a quest that would take a job that would take longer than their lifespan to complete? I also wonder how they knew it would take that long. There is a sequel series called Fairy Tail: The 100 Year Quest which I assume covers it but I haven't gotten around to reading that yet.
In the sub and manga they explain the century quest as something no one has managed to complete in 100 years - i.e. it's very difficult and dangerous and everyone who tries to do it ends up dead. Not sure why in the dub Lucy says it takes 100 years to finish

so Zamber finally met the strongest fairy tail guild member, Redhead Shanks... wait, wrong name, i meant Guildarts also, she almost predicted a plotpoint in this arc, her head will spin upside down during the next episodes but i did like this arc, some many red herrings but a very nice ending
Yay, I’ve been waiting for you to get to the Edolas arc. It’s one of my favorite arcs, and has some really emotional scenes. There are also a few new characters we meet who I love so much

And we meet the actual strongest wizard of Fairy Tail - for real this time. As others have said, it’s because Shanks-err Gildarts wasn’t written yet. Lisanna remains the Queen of Cryptic Sayings. Remember that black dragon… Fairy Tail has a good handle on foreshadowing and future threads coming together, and you seem to be keeping track very well - not something a lot of casual watchers catch. Yeah, this arc is both necessary but also feels out of nowhere - probably a pacing issue but ehh. Personally for me it starts slower but picks up really quickly later. Also personally to me it has a few logic leaps and plot holes that aren’t filled well, but again that’s my opinion. The next into music is AWESOME though and is still part of this arc. Edit: I TOTALLY FORGOT TO WRITE ABOUT GAJEEL! It's adorable the metal lump is looking for a cat because he feels left out XD
The first time i watched the series i really think that the plot with wildars its gonna be the typicall "I'm good...i lied i was bad everytime", but for luck that was not the case.

Zamber. Just to be clear. When your eventually react to One Piece. Gildarts looks a lot like the character Shanks. To be fair, the One Piece manga started before Fairy Tail's.
In this episode we finally the strogest member of fairy tail Shanks I mean Gildarts but it's pretty much a in joke that Gildartsand Shanks are the same person a joke that film red makes even funnier for let's say reasons cough cough spoilers cough cough

It’s just not in a way that most people speak to each other. Unless the moment really triggers it and you’re talking to someone you really trust. At least that’s what I think.
