Salut les Frenchies. Je suis "américain à Paris". J'ai fait le contraire de vous. Né aux US, suis venu ici à sept ans.
In the early 70s I visited Paris during a very cold Easter. Completely frozen I bought a bun from a Moroccan? seller from a window. It was filled with lots of meat and a very hot red sauce, probably lots of harissa. It saved my life, warmed me up completely. I have never forgotten it. It was delicious.
You and I might’ve been there at the same time. Yes, it was gloriously cold. I was there Easter 1974 and took communion at Notre Dame Cathedral. I was curious if this atheist would be struck by lightning or some other kind of death-dealing method. Nope. I was also curious about how the taste and texture of the communion wafer might differ from the Jewish matzoh. The wafer stuck to the roof of my mouth (just like peanut butter stuck to the roof of Mr. Ed’s mouth, the method by which the simulation of that poor horse’s “talking” was stimulated). Both are not worth eating unless you’re literally starving to death, but at least matzoh can be chewed and swallowed ASAP, without having to wait it out until eventual dissolution. So I survived an Easter communion at Notre Dame Cathedral on Sunday, 14 April 1974, conveniently the last day of Passover, too! If ever was a time for God or G_d to destroyer a non-believer, it was then. Yet here I am, 48 years later, still going strong. I shudder when I reflect upon what a close call I evidently evaded. Not! LOL
@@Hollis_has_questions Yes, it was 74 when I was there. The weather was not great in Europe all summer 1974, lots of rain. My friend and I got a last minute flight to Benidorm last week of August/ first week of September that same year, to finally feel some sun. But that is a different story. (You didn’t go there as well, did you? Lol)
@@Hollis_has_questions Yes we must have at some point. Quite a coincidence I just remembered I took slides of Paris and I still have them. I haven’t looked at them for years. Mainly pics of buildings, Eiffel Tower, bridges etc but who knows, you might just be in the back ground somewhere. What were you wearing? 😁 I know I took one of the Notre Dame. You were probably at that moment inside struggling with the sacramental bread 🥴. (I know the feeling, I was raised as a Roman Catholic). And no lightning storm above either. Lol.
@@elss8717 I don’t recall my wardrobe of half a century ago, sorry. My Italian friend and I picnicked on the Île, visited the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée Rodin, where we saw Celle qui fut la belle heaulmière. (I first heard about her in Robert Heinlein’s SciFi classic, Stranger in a Strange Land.) And we strolled leisurely while eating lots of great cheap street food. Even though I love London and Rome, the intimacy of Paris makes me want to gather that city to my breast for a long embrace. And I’m not usually a hugger. Btw, that cold, rainy weather that you think of as “bad” is my favorite weather and why I love England so much - I was studying in Oxford at the time. It did make sitting on the many Paris benches while noshing a trifle uncomfortable … but that’s why the loveliest of cities offers a myriad of cafés to choose from, beginning with a pastis and followed by coffee to complement our jambon-beurre while engaging in the great sport of people watching. Mon dieu P.S. The only background wardrobe I recall from those years was in the one background scene in which I appeared, as a cheap whore calling for tricks from a second-floor balcony in the French Quarter of New Orleans, in the Louis Malle/Brooke Shields film, Pretty Baby. My wardrobe? - nothing, I was naked! That was in 1977.
This is how I like my travel and tourism videos. Simple, straightforward, personable and entertaining. Thank you and I look forward to more from you guys!
J’adore cette vidéo… souvent quand on est français et qu’on habite près de Paris, on oublie de retrouver cet œil neuf de visiteur, et vous m’avez donné envie de découvrir plein de choses en visitant mes quartiers préférés ! Thanks a lot !!!
I live in Holland. Been to Paris a few times back in the day and although the architecture is beautiful i told myself not to go back again (people, attitude, business and sometimes not so safe areas). But ever since ive been waching your vids, i am willing to go back and have another try. You guys are brining the magic back in Paris.
"In my 32 years in the U.S." ? No wonder you're both in Paris now! It's almost midnight here today, and I'm starving with nothing in the fridge, and I'm once again salivating at both of your selections. This has become my favorite channel...and future destnation...one day....
I'm a flight attendant and find myself in Paris a lot for short stays and I LOVE all your videos. So helpful! I've been telling all of my coworkers about them. Please keep posting, they're all awesome!!
I guess she and I have a different definition of what " street" food is. Street food to me are vendors on the street with moveable carts / units. Most of these places are restaurants. Restaurants are not street food.
Your enthusiasm is so nice ! If you love all this food but cheaper you have to come to Rouen, Normandy :) From my parisian life I'd recommend : - _Aux Castelblangeois_ (rue Saint-Honoré, near the _Louvre_ and the _Palais Royal_ ). As a _boulangerie_ they make all kinds of bread, pastry and food to go but what I loved most was their stuffed little buns (salmon, chorizo, ham, cheese...) - Cheap japanese restaurants with wonderful soups between the _Palais Royal_ and the opera, east of _avenue de l'Opéra_
Thanks for sharing all these great places that have BIG portions and are actually cheap! I will be going to all of them in Feb! I also love how you guys mention what attraction it’s near by which makes it easier to find! Merci!
If the management of the Michelin Guide had its way, it would entrust you with the responsibility of awarding the Guide's stars for the coming years. You are really good and inspiring.
I lived in Paris for 4 years during 1980 to 1984 and very seldom eat out because it was really expensive, but walked all over the Paris for hours 😏I still miss their breads and cheese , we would try a new cheese every week so to know their cheese 😝
I just got back from {aris. I was there for a week. I have been watching your videos a month before my trip and it was very helpful. You provided valuable information in how to enjoy delicious food at a reasonable price. Your suggested places to visit like Montmarte and St. Germaine are accurate and I had a a blast. Thank you so much for the guidance..
Will be there in June thanks for the details and location, great to see an actual information video out there without RU-vidrs making it about themselves. We'll done subbed
I am a Paris dude, and yes, great advice/recommendation to have something when walking around....And I must say this is the first time I saw someone recommend anything on rue de la Huchette 😜
Great list. We stop by Caractere de Cochon every time we’re in Paris. Not only is the ham great, the owner is the nicest person. One addition I would make to the list is L’as du Fallafel. Best falafel I’ve ever had.
This video was wonderful! I’ve only visited Paris once (back in 2019), but this has me so ready to go back and try out some of the spots. I had the best breakfast quiche at the airport before heading to Barcelona. When I tell you that was the best quiche ever, it sold out so quick and I couldn’t find another place that had that one. However, I came back home and made quiche almost every other weekend.
Colleen glad to hear you love Asian food! Been in the US for 30 years and still have not lost my taste for our Asian dishes. So will definitely try this place out when we get there in August. Thank you for all the great info! You & Antoine are the best!! I have been researching & reading to get ready for our first European trip. We have traveled extensively in South Americas and Caribbean but this is our 1st time to see Paris and all these places. After out 9 days in Paris we are heading to Dover to catch our 11 day cruise to the British Isles. So we’re pretty excited. How awesome that Antoine is rediscovering his roots again. Love & hugs to both you!
Thank goodness. I only watched the introduction and already liked the video. My time in Paris is usually limited and I don’t have the patience for the loooong meals everyone seems to enjoy.
you seem to like what you eat so much that it's a real pleasure to see. There are addresses that I didn't know even though I'm a Parisian. thank you and continue to enjoy yourself
Great video! I love street food and I can definitely be satisfied grazing on sandwiches, pastries, and small bites. I haven’t dined in a restaurant while on vacation in years.
I just found your videos and they are fabulous. You are my people. many thanks for keeping me company and showing me fabulous places to eat, wonderful things to do, and generally sharing your lives with me.
I absolutely love your videos. I’m taking my family back to Paris in April and plan on visit most if not all of the places you recommended. Thank you for putting these videos together.
If you guys go to the 13th arrdt you should check out la Felicita, it's one of my favourites, cool space and lots of different restaurants inside ! Not far from the Seine, the BNF, parc de Bercy and Cour St Emilion :)
I had a Notre Dame Apple today at Lacroix Patisserie. WOW. I’ve never tasted anything like it. I’ve been looking forward to tasting it since I first saw your video months ago…. I also toldthemI was there at your recommendation. 😋
I love all these recommendations and I've been to some, they're amazing! Thank you so much, will definitely check some of these out on my upcoming trip to Paris on September!
Like a lot of these ‘street food vendors’ they do not exist, until the day begins. What occurs prior till opening, still amazes me. Once setup begins, it’s incredible what’s available. This video is just a tip of the...
I love it! A quick bite while sight-seeing is all I ever want for lunch. Why spend money and (especially) time, when you don't have to? I have long loved savory items at bakeries for this, you have broadened my horizons a bit! Thanks!
you two seem like really cool, open minded, smart people...nice work on the videos, just discovered your channel, the net needs more people like you....keep it up....will keep watching....you managed to raise my interest in visiting France, which is something nobody ever did...
Thank you! Liked & subscribed! I miss Paris sooooooo much! The ham & cheese sandwiches I had there are among one of my favorites! Who would have thought a plain cheese & ham sandwich could taste so delicious! Club sandwich at Cafe De Fleur- salmon at Apecius!
Thanks for your suggestions.I had the opportunity to go to Le Petit Vendome and I tried the Wild Snails/Escargots for the First time.I also watched your videos about the metro and I purchased the Navigo Card. Merci!
Oh, goi cuon, vietnamese fried spring roll. It’s fusion the way it’s eaten. I prefer summer fresh roll, the non fried version of goi cuon. The ideal sauce would be fish sauce from Phu Quoc, but a light tangy sauce with a dash of lemon would do wonders.
My wife and I will be in Paris May 1 - May 8 2023 we just made reservations for LE PETIT VENDOME . Would be nice to meet you guys. We are coming from Michigan.
I've never been to Paris but plan to go. I hear that the hot chocolate is the best. Any good suggestions for places to get this? Forgive me if this is a silly question. I read about it in a mystery book, and it created these cosy pictures in my mind.
Thank you so much! Great couple, so much appreciate the information on the specific names of places and descriptions of the foods! Hope to get there soon!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Perhaps worth mentioning that the concept of "French tacos" is different than the usual Mexican food one most people are familiar with.
Love this food tour in Paris! Such great spots and recommendations on what to eat in Paris! Im going for christmas with my mother and I was a bit scared since it can be very expensive...yet now im so ready to dig...dying to have one of those crepes or shawarmas!
It is official, you are my new favorite blog couple! Amazing Vids! Thank you! Love the way you two look at each other❤️ It has been many years since I have been, you make me want to go back to Paris!!
I am so excited to be coming to Paris in May. Your videos have been so helpful and worth watching. I downloaded your guide and will definitely taking it with me.
Love it! Just waiting for things to settle down, and a trip back to France from here in Australia is on the books. We found some great places around Canal St Martin, would love to have you cover there. Happily now subscribed.
You guys are a lovely, class act. No other way to say it. Appreciate all the down facts; thought I won’t be appearing in Paris soon, I gift you one joke of the day upon request.
You guys are lovely cute couple with just a amazing information . I m planning 7 days in Paris in May and this is my best you tube channel for my trip .. thanks for sharing !!🥰
I enjoy your videos and was so happy to see that Carton has a location at Gard du Nord. The location in the 6th on Rue de Buci closed and my husband ( a Parisien) was thrilled when I told him about the other location. The pronunciation of the establishment is car( with that back tongue thing) toe.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel I had a good visit in Paris. My last stop was at Carton and I wished I've been there WAY earlier. It was awesome. So next time I'll enjoy it more :) Thank you
Nice adresses. I have to try some of them. Next time the falafels sandwhich at Maoz on the other side of Chez les Libanais. It is awesomely good, cheap, fresh and you can add tons of things in it for free.
There are many crepe stands in Paris where you can get a galette with ham, cheese and fried egg for 5.50 euro…. Like the one near St. Germain metro stop. The best one is on the rue Rosier. There are also Chinese takeaway buffet style places in every neighbourhood where the food is delicious, fast and cheap… also Monoprix.. in most neighbourhoods has cafes with takeaway food.. and grocery stores with ready-made takeaway food that is cheap…
@@LesFrenchiesTravel of course but it is good to let your followers know that every area of Paris has cheap food. The mini pain au chocolate, croissants and chauson au pomme are delicious, fun and inexpensive for breakfast. Many small hotels include breakfast and serve these mini pastries. Paris is good for all budgets even St. Germain des pres…
Bonjour! Love, Love, Love you guys. Truly great work on this video. Would love to see you tackle food, sights, and recommended locations in each Arrondissement one at a time. 😀
