nydhea mcrae ..."Africa" houses MANY different race's/nationalities. Sooooo, I'm a bit confused as to why ANYONE should feel like they shouldn't go or can't because they don't have a high count of melanin in their skin. I think it'd be pretty educational for people who don't have root's in Africa to go. Why miss out on a learning experience???

hottskullxD A lot of those other races in Africa are squatters in land that does not belong to them. White and non blacks have tons of spaces devoted to them but it seems like black culture is always meant for mass consumption. We don't have to share everything we are allowed to enjoy our things by ourselvesz

I love the movement of African Americans loving Africa but please don't generalise. It makes africa look like a country which it is not. Africa is very diverse and different throughout. It's annoying af when people generalise the whole of Africa which is the second largest continent into one area

It's LIT lol..and Sarci, it's not like a West Indian Carnival in the UK. Afro Punk glorifies Black People of various nationalities and cultures. Actually, now that you mentioned the UK; did you know that there's a Afro Punk Fest in the UK? It happened earlier this summer in London. There's also festivals in Atlanta, Paris and Toronto.

I went last month, mostly black performers, skateboarding contests, dance breaks, black businesses selling art, hollistic health items, and clothes, activism outreach tables, fooooood, relaxing in the grass on blankets! It feels like family when you're in the crowds.

I went to AfroPunk this year and there we're so many cool outfit's. The energy there was wonderful and I got to see so many beautiful black men and women. Hopefully again next year. I had a great time at AfroPunk in New York!
