The rational voice in my head is happy that Jacob is good at writing music despite that not being his main specialty, because it gives me hope that I might one day become good at art as a musician. The irrational voice on the other hand is FUMING because music’s supposed to be MY thing, STAY IN YOUR LANE
also i think it's interesting that jacob felt like the 7/8 was 8/8 but with a missing beat because to me it sounded like it was 6/8 with an added beat what a beautiful world we live in
that's interesting. does your brain feel 6/8 usually? cause i feel like that would most probably happen if you mostly learned music in 3/4. I'm a percussionist (started with african samba which is 2/4 or 4/4) so my brain is always doing 4s in the background. (which does make me love a 7/8 over 8/8 poly very much)
I love the talk of little kids being precious. My little niece is just learning how to speak properly and during christmas she had trouble pulling off wrapping paper and said "Ah cwap" infront of everyone while being recorded. I am going to LOVE talking about that to her when she's older haha
There's plenty of services that are relatively cheap that make it mercifully simple. I don't want to personally advocate for any but I've been paying like 20 US buckaroonies a year to have my music up on basically all platforms

I love that it's so audible in his music that Jacob really enjoys it. A lot of music is full of heavy emotions, especially the stuff that I like, but this to me mostly reads: I love this music. Might also be because there's no vocals, and I've so far only heard two songs he's made.

typically musicians will split irregular time signatures into a few groups for example, 7/8 could be 4/8 + 3/8 (2 quarter notes, then a dotted quarter note)
@@nelleriver5359 Agree, I'm a huge fan of doing Three quarter notes with one eighth note at the end, it's a lot of fun to clap out. My other favorite right now is doing a nice 6/8+5/8 for an 11 but that's a different thing altogether, it's kind of like a waltz with a limp
Yes! I am so on board for teaching kids emotional literacy, self-care, and mental health. I didn't get these as a kid and I've gone to therapy for 8 years to help learn these things, process trauma, notice and replace negative self-talk patterns, and more. Therapy is the best decision I've ever made. I'm glad more people are acknowledging the importance of mental health these days, and disappearing the "stigma" of seeing a therapist/counselor. It warms my heart to hear your family taking such great care of each other.
