We've Played Persona 5 Tactica - Is It Any Good? 

Feel sorry for people experiencing the Persona 5 fatigue. I’ve played Persona 5 twice, Persona Royal once, and Persona 5 Strikers once. No fatigue as of yet… really looking forward to playing this in November. Also super excited to play the new Persona 3 version early next year.

Can't even lie, I've played Persona 5, Persona Q2, Persona 5 Strikers and Persona 5 Royal... I'm FAR from fatigued, but I AM ready to move onto the next cast of Persona Users... really hoping Nanako becomes a Persona User one day

No persona 5 fatigue here, one of my favorite games of all time!

3:05 That's kind of the magic of P4 and 5 - they offer more than just an experience like you'd get from something like FF7/16 or Pokémon, and that's "a place to belong." Yes, we want Persona 6, but we also have a connection to the Phantom Thieves that transcends being merely a "party," so even through the fatigue we're still glad to see the team again and have a fun experience with them.

this is a super cool artstyle, ive seen plenty of persona 5 games/art out of the corner of my eye just. existing. these last eight years or whatever and this is the first time its spoke to me so much! like zion said its smooshed And stretched, not just chibified, I think they did a great job adding angularity and more stretched out/ exaggerated aspects to these designs to make them expressive

Personally I still want more Persona 5, a new Arena/Ultimax would be great. (They could even combine 3,4,5 for it since 4 is the previous iteration).

14:16 So happy to hear Kill la Kill mentioned because the whole time I was staring at these trailer images and animations I'm like - oh wow, this REALLY looks like Kill la Kill, the quick transitions and the joking, carefree vibe of it all (at least the non-H bits in Kill la Kill).

I played P5 twice, and P5S, and I'm still excited about this. That said, I do think the price is a bit steep for a spin-off. I might get it on sale next year or something but I still look forward to it.

7:37 the composer is Toshiki Konishi (not Meguro who did the original Persona 5). Konishi contributed to the soundtrack of P5 (the anime cutscenes iirc) and also composed Devil Summoner 2 and the first Persona Q game

I played pretty much the whole series this year, I started P5R in February and have since run through P4G, P3P, P5 Strikers, P4 Arena Ultimax, and I'm currently planning to fit the Q games on 3DS in here before P5T and P3 Reload. So I absolutely SHOULD have Persona fatigue at this point having played 3 70-100 hour long RPGs and a bunch of spin-offs with all these characters too... _and yet the Persona brainrot continues._ I couldn't tell you why, but I still can't get enough of this series, even the Phantom Thieves. I've seen a ton of people yelling about Phantom Thieves fatigue and that we need P6, but honestly I don't get that. Maybe it is because I played all these games in one year, but I love the Thieves (maybe not as much as the Investigation Team but hey I love all these guys) and I'm not gonna say no at this point to more of those characters that I adore. Throw in the DLC including Kasumi and Akechi with the former being my favorite Persona character ever and the latter being in my top 5 (I may be conflicted about day one story DLC but dang that's hard to resist), and this is looking to be a very solid time. Probably a day one get for me, just gotta think about if I want to play it on Switch first or play on Game Pass day one and get a physical for Switch later on. I like having my Persona stuff on Switch for the most part, but I'll figure it out by November.

As an XCOM fan and recent Persona fan, honestly this just feels as a very interesting mix of styles to play and I’m really looking forward to it

Since Felix is playing Persona 5 Royal, it would have been a good candidate for his First Byte series. Speaking of streaming, has Nintendo Life given up on streaming? It’s been a while.

And then there’s me who has both persona 5 royal and strikers and love tactical rpgs but still hasn’t touched anything. It’s like I have a fear of long games. I’m enjoying for example tears of the kingdom so much right now but after 70 hours of playing and feeling like I have played a third of the content with my very limited free time feels weird.

I have played through P5, P5R, P5S and when I initially saw the teaser and trailers for P5T, I was thinking to skip this one and look forward for P3 Reload. But, after this video and commentaries from Zion, I must say I am excited already for P5T!

Im still real excited for this I’m glad to just get another adventure with the phantom thieves I liked shin megami devil summoner so a persona type tactics game should be cool. Some people are all upset over this but persona fans are known for being cry babies. Strikers was really good and the story was fun best thing to do is don’t worry about what’s “canon” just play the game and enjoy the adventure

Of course it’s good. ATLUS never misses, they’ve been pumping out PEAK since Digital Devil Story.

Still working on P5 Royal. I have gaming ADD and have to "constantly" switch up what I'm playing to not get burnt out or bored. Seeing as this has some potential story spoilers, looks like I'll need to get back to finishing P5 Royal. But overall, just excited for all things Persona and want to eventually play this.

Question: How do other personas/demons work in tactica?

I've played Persona 5/R like 10 times through, along with all the spin-off games, and I never get tired of P5. I'm excited to play this spin-off as well as P3 Reload.

I know this is a Nintendo channel but this game will also be on Game Pass Day One so if you have an Xbox or PC that’s a good way to check it out before actually buying it

13:15 50ish hours seems appropriate. I recall Persona 5 Strikers taking me about 40 hours on my first playthrough of that spinoff/sequel.

If you loved persona 5 and really miss the characters, play persona 5 strikers. I’m not a huge fan of musou games but this one was actually really good. It plays more like an action RPG.

I think this game was made for me. Persona 5 is one of my favorite games of all time, and tactical RPGs is one of my favorite genres. So I can’t wait for this game!

I'm currently like 80 hours or so into P5R and it is such a fun game! I'm also a big Fire Emblem fan, so I'm really excited for tactical gameplay but with the P5 cast. It's making me debate if I will want to play Strikers once I finish Royal, or wait for Tactica, especially since P5T doesn't seem to reference P5S.

I know people want a Persona 6, and yeah I'd be happy to see one too, but honestly, I loved P5 and I really this cast of characters, so I'm happy to see them go on as many adventures as Atlus is willing to give me. Don't really see a reason we can't have both, at least from the consumer side.

I skipped Strikers in favor of playing Hades (as I was experiencing P5(R) fatigue at the time), but I think Tatica will be just the kind of game to get me through until P3R releases.

I’ve played every persona 5 game. OG P5, Royal 3 times, Q2, Strikers, and Dancing. This is one of my fav casts in gaming as whole. Even though they don’t have much development left to do, I’d love to explore more silly stories like these.

I just recently beat P5R in 110 hours and im now playing P5 Strikers which is awesome Excited to try this one out after!

I didn't care about this before. Now im VERY excited!

I loved the P5 Chibi designs in the VN scenes, but I couldn't see Makoto's, and so- wanting to see what she looked like, I went through the entire video looking for anything, one single line of dialogue from her, and found absolutely nothing! She's in the background of some of the 3D scenes, and in the group picture but that's it. Uh. So, does the guy who edited this video just hate her? Or does the game hate her?

Tactica focusing only on P5 is a bit of a letdown. With Persona Q and Persona Q2, and how this game resemble the artstyle of these games, it would have been cool to have the three teams together in this. It would help alleviate the P5 fatigue and ease newcomers to the P3 cast, since the P3 Remake is coming next year. Also, not getting the Royal characters sucks, they're releasing it as DLC, day one. It will still be a fun game, but they could have done better.

I was playing P5R and just kind of stopped after the 5th palace. The game is amazing, but I was definitely getting burned out and also increasingly annoyed the game kept not giving me time to build the confidants I wanted. Poring over a guide for everything to see what i can fit in was just making it not fun and causing me anxiety. Didn't help that the double whammy of TotK and Pikmin 4 also came out around that time. I'll have to get back into it when my backlog improves, but going back to playing a long RPG after being away for a long time is just hard for me. But I think a tactics game will be better for my mind than an absurdly long RPG. I also loved Strikers, which was much shorter and easier to complete (yes, I am a Nintendo only weirdo who played Strikers first. Actually, Smash DLC first, then strikers, then some of Royal, haha. Got the story totally backwards, but whatever).

Now if only we get a Jeanne DArc sequel & also a Trails SRPG.. Oh a a FF Tactics remastered collection consisting of War of the Lions and the FFT Advance series on the same cart with full VA.. A man can dream

I'm super excited for Persona 5 Tactica, but I've never played a Persona game before... I've played some of the SMT games though (the Devil Survivor series are up there as the best games of all time) - you don't have to have played any Persona games before starting this, do you? And yeah, hopefully this 'Tactica' style is something Atlus keeps working with for future games...

I don't know if anyone noticed, but the shoulder pads the new girl has are the same that Akechi has one his Robin Hood outfit. Coincidence?

So maybe it’s because I took a break for almost two years from persona 5 Royal after putting 60 hrs in after beating the launch p5 and bought strikers when it released but didn’t start playing it till recently but can’t say I have the fatigue. I am curious to see what they come up with for persona 6 though. That said I definitely plan to get persona 5 tactica. The characters and stories of the persona series are awesome but I also just get really into the gameplay, how all the social mechanics complement the gameplay and various personas.

As someone who prefers persona striker over the regular. I'm actually quite excited and it's coming to Xbox pc!! Will renew it for it

Imagining how Big Bang Burger could look in this style is exciting to me! When you can push proportions and motifs, things tend to get extra fun. 😄

I’m about 130 hours into persona 5 royal im the switch. Still have not beaten it. I love that game. Since I played the game for the first time after it came out for the switch I do not have that Persona 5 Fatigue. I’m also excited for this game, Persona 5 Strikers and the rhythm game

I'm getting a persona brainrot this year having played through persona 5 royal 2 times, persona 4 golden 3 times, persona 5 strikers, persona 4 dancing and now im playing through the persona Q games on the 3ds while waiting for persona 3 reload to come out

I think Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the greatest games ever made. I have a save file that i cherish and have put years of grinding into. I love Persona so this game is a dream come true that it exists and that they had the balls to make a premium tactical rpg game in 2023. My biggest fear now is that this doesnt have the grind or depth that keeps me grinding for years on end.

They provide high quality high resolution EXCLUSIVE never before seen screenshots and you throw all of them up on a low resolution grid...

For anyone that has played Tactica, can someone tell me if the Tactica story is canon to vanilla P5 or to P5R? I know the DLC has the Royal characters, but I also know they do not show up in the main story. Are they refenced at least? I just want to know which version to play before playing Tactica.

Kinda wish they’d kept the art style as they did with Strikers. That game had issues with its gameplay design but as a continuation of Persona 5 really got it right, it didn’t do the characters dirty. This looks like it has the gameplay but not the story vibe

This game looks awesome! Can’t wait to pick it up. P3 reload excluding the reason Persona 3 is my favourite game (the female protagonist) and changing the iconic voice cast majorly turned me off from Persona news, but I started looking into P5T and it looks awesome. The art style is cute, the mario+rabbids type gameplay and the new character all seem super cool.

Persona 5 Tactica has the art style of the Persona Q games that almost thought it was a third game in that series. 😂

i played all the persona games p3 p4 p5 p5r and p5s but never heard of persona 5 tactics thats why im hear i saw it on the xbox game pass (i dont know if there is a persona 1 or 2 i didnt see on the game pass for pc)

Of course it’s going to be good people need to seriously chill out. I know it’s frustrating to not hear anything about Persona 6 but you shouldn’t let that color your opinions on other stuff coming out from the series in the meantime. I love the persona 5 cast and I know I won’t be seeing as much of them once 6 comes out so I’d rather get as much time with them as possible so long as it doesn’t slow down the development of the next game of course. And the changes in Tactica make it clear Atlus is making sure it doesn’t distract whoever’s working on 6.

Plethora games have long running characters, like Pokemon, Final Fantasy, etc that go across genres or return. Its not that strange or unusual

I played the demo at egx. Its honestly just ok. Its like a tactics game for newcomer to this genre, its very simple but a bit boring for me. Maybe it'll have good challenges later, but honestly i just want Metaphor, SMT, or proper Persona

Gameplay is really all that matters. I recently tried playing Persona 5 Strikers, and I really enjoyed the story and characters for a moment -- to some degree I was finding it even more interesting than the plot of the main game and was looking forward to watching a story without having to do the social sim stuff. But the gameplay was so soporific I couldn't stick with it. Here's hoping this time I can spend more time with these characters and enjoy the game also.

Persona is great, but its success really damaged Atlus. Everything is Persona now. Remember when new Megaten subseries would be created regularly, series like Devil Survivor and Digital Devil Saga? Those were the days.

The Persona 5 crew was just okay to me so I am well past ready to move on to Persona 6 or back to Persona 3. I think I'd be less irate if we at least got some news for Persona 6 instead of endless rehashes and silence about the future of the series.
