There was a time where we'd get all sorts of significant hardware changes on smartphones. It feels like lately the emphasis on smartphone features has shifted from software to hardware...

we have reached the peak we need to replace our phones every 2-3 years heck even 5 if not for batteries. sales for greed is real.

7,5 years for me because the internal storage is starting to die from too many reads/writes (oneplus 3). Speed is still totally fine and I was able to replace the battery and finger print scanner (it was worn down to the sensor). Now switching to sony xperia 1 as its the last one with a headphone jack, sd card support and a "more efficient" processor. Lets see how long this survives especially with all the glass...

buy the previous gen for almost half the price and keep it for 4 years. we're curious to try new things, do it smartly

@@papercut1987 Xperia 1 IV ist currently 927€, Xperia 1 V is 1049€ (where I Live). The price Graph ist also in an incline for the IV for some unknown reason. ._. So while it was at ~810€ a month ago, it is now about 10% in distance price wise to the IV. Should I still Go for the prev. gen in this Case?

@@DiverseGreen-Anon ouf, you'll pay a premium for Xperia, those are some beautiful phones. If you WANT an Xperia, than yes, go for the V, cuz the price makes sense. If you want Iphone, I would say go with 13s. My main point is to set yourself a price point where you think it will be a bargain and choose a phone within that price range. You'll be surprised how much of a phone you can get in those options and that we don't always need the very latest of a lot of things. For me the price range is somewhere in the 500-700 (cad), I have been jumping between Samsung to Google phones for the past years. Now Huawei P30pro, which is my current phone and it's working strong (paid 500$ in 2019, barely used)

@@papercut1987 I want a phone with sd card, 3.5mm headphone jack and a modern processor (not 8gen 1 because of inefficiency) and that is sadly only the xperia lineup . _. Next best candidate would be the unihertz jelly star btw xD as it has everything except "good" processor in a tiny usable form factor for ~200€

In my opinion we need more freedom across the board, my phone's interesting only because of it : -Custom roms, to get the slick android experience that you want, instead of a bloated manufacturer's skin -I've even got a Windows 11 arm dual boot, since my poco x3 pro is among the very few phones to have this available -Plus i've got a transperant glass back to see the internals, I love transparent phones That's all possible thanks to community developpers, and Xiaomi having made their code public for this phone. To me it's the most important when buying a phone, custom software support ! For this reason I think that Nothing is going straight into the right direction, good design, transparency both litteraly and in how the company functions, and a huge emphasis on freedom aroung customizing the phone, and community ! I should probably invest in that company tbh

Thanks for the input 🙏 As tech fans we love to see companies give us the flexibility to personalize our phones to our liking. I also really like the direction Nothing is heading towards with an emphasis on community.

They should start unifying smartphone and desktop technology. But knowing capitalists, they would prefer having different product lines

I agree… money drives all their decisions. But I feel like they can figure out a way to input desktop tech into phones & not have it ruin their desktop sales. At the end of the day, a desktop/laptop will always be more practical for a lot of work. It would just be nice to have desktop features on a phone for when you’re in a pinch

Spitting straight facts! Look at each phone and there is minimal separation from any of them at this point. For common users who aren't photographers these phones are all the same. Batteries are close, cameras are close, and hardware is close as well.

Yeah I think you're right on the money. Out of all the phones in my arsenal they all seem to do basically the same thing and each one of my phones has a different feature that I enjoy. I just hate that they take away features that I think that people can really use Like the headphone jack and it would really be nice if they would put the IR blaster back on the device. And for the life of me I don't understand why these companies don't understand we as consumers really love a good unboxing experience we want to be excited when we buy a new phone open up the box and the presentation is just awesome but no they want to take everything away from us and the only thing that's in the thin ass box that they give us is a phone and a little charging cable. And the thing that I find funny is to give us a cord and sometimes it ain't even the correct cord that lets us use the charging port at its optimal output. The companies overseas do it right. Xioami Realme, and Vivo. One Plus get's it right most of the time. Thanks for the video keep up the great work

I dont think we have reached peak smartphone because there are many things the smartphones are still improving on like giving more camera sensor size, giving variable apertures to cameras, adding AAA gaming support, giving satellite connectivity etc only people eho rhink we reached smartphones are the people who stuck their tech knowledge to 2015.
