The book and this show are also inspired based on true historical events that happened in Japan. It's disrespectful to say a country's history is a spinoff of a fictional fantasy show so nah, it's not a joke.

The Shogun book and tv mini-series were written 40 years BEFORE Game of Thrones. Both were ground breaking. If anything, GOT is a “spinoff” of Shogun!

1. this isnt a japanese spin off, matter of fact game of thrones was actually inspired by Shogun novel by james clavell 2. this is inspired by true to life events 3. its a status symbol that you can wield two swords

Through the first 7 episodes this show is a 10/10! This episode is great. John and Toranaga are really good characters. The costumes, setting and acting is awesome. Mariko is gorgeous and also the courtesan is sexy af, sheesh. Great show!

A spinoff???? Shogun was written in 1975. GOT in 1991. Shogun was a mini series in 1980, 10 years before GOT even existed. How disrespectful to call Shogun the spinoff!!🤨

Damn people in the comments are really on yall dicks about the GOT comparison 😅 but they didn’t know. Me personally I still enjoyed the reaction I know when I first watched Shōgun it was all a little confusing but with a little research and watching reactions it was a lot easier to understand. Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to watch more with you guys 😊

I understand people were upset that I called it a "Spinoff" in the title, I was only joking about it. We both know that's not the case. And I think it's completely legitimate to draw comparisons to GoT. Even thought the inspiration and source material for Shogun was before GoT time, GoT is still a greatly produced show (Seasons 1 - 6) and there are a lot things we like about GoT that we also like about Shogun. Mainly political drama aspects. I'm glad you enjoyed our reaction and hopefully this show just keeps on getting better and better. Thank you for watching! - Cam!
