Coming from a fellow hunter, much appreciated! I am looking forward to more of your hunt videos this season. I think it will be a challenging season this year with how dry it as been and how low the water is. Good luck to you and your crew! Thanks for watching!
Question: can the Weatherby be set up for neural cast? I clean the pistons from gas guns by soaking them over night in plain old cheap mineral spirits.
thanks! I’ve had it for a number years now. I live in Canada, I have used it rain, cold and shine from March through to November. Honestly it’s been fantastic, I can’t really comment on its applications for deer or moose as I rifle hunt for big game, but for birds, turkeys, waterfowl and clays, etc it’s been excellent. I do not regret the purchase. Hopefully that helps with your question. Thanks for watching!
I called Weatherby today, its official. Weatherby have discontinued the SA-08 Shotgun except for the youth model. The customer rep. hinted that Weatherby may bring out a new gas operated model in the futre but did not give any details. Let's hope!
I've noticed only the 20 gauge youth model has been listed for quite some time, which would make a good youth gun being light and gas operating action. The Element interia shotgun may have more kick.
Thinking about this in 20g youth model for my son. Primarily turkey hunting , maybe squirrels and ducks. Thoughts? Mindful of recoil but will likely start with 2 3/4”
The 12g has very mild recoil. The 20g would be even lighter felt recoil. Personally I'd go with the 12g. If you are only shooting 2 3/4. He can always grow into it and eventualy shoot 3 inch. The 20g would be great, but a 12g could be better for future shooting.
Can you do a very short video on how to ghost load that gun. I have a Mossberg essay 20 that has been ghost loaded before but cannot recall how. Difficult. Your Weatherby I think is the same gun as the Mossberg SA 20.
For the 12 gauge a “ light load” is 7/8 oz. - 1 1/8 oz. loads. A “heavy load” is 1 1/4 oz. - 2 oz loads. Simplified for me is, Target loads = Light Hunting loads = Heavy Hopefully that helps answer your question. Thanks for watching!
@@footprintoutdoors6144 do you have a shell size preference for shooting clays? Shot a bunch last night, had some trouble cycling by the end of the night with the shells I was using. 2 3/4 #7.5 Rio. Only cycled with light piston but even by the end they weren’t cycling great. I used some other shells my friends had and they worked much better
@@footprintoutdoors6144 the new one is called the Element, which to me when I went and looked at it I think it's basically the same it's just aesthetically looks a little different and better. I have the sa-08 and I have never had an issue or problem with it it's one of my favorites even over some of the more expensive ones that I have. Ps. Looked at a weatherby Element today and it is inertia and not gas.
@@robertchapman4488 I looked at the element back in late summer. It’s inertia I think? It looks great! And like you, the sa08 for me has been excellent.
@@footprintoutdoors6144 I had called the company and they told me 100 round break in ..and they were right ... This is with 20 guage ..it's been flawless since then
I never had a problem even with the 10rd stick I got from the name above on my Gmail ⬆️⬆️⬆️. Perfect pistol for midnight run to the gas station in basketball shorts
