Do you use the Iwata compressor for both in this comparison test?

It was the same compressor. Not an Iwata, but the cheapest that I could find when I bought it about 5 years ago

You pay sixteen pounds ad what do you get Another day weathering deeper in paint :-) As for all tools, low quality has a cost. My old folks used to say "I'm not rich enough to have poor quality tools" and of course they were right. Thanks -again- for this very interesting video.

Thank you. As always, I’d suggest starting your weathering on old wagons that you don’t have too much value for. You can generally find old bits on eBay for next to no money to practice on. Or if you don’t like the results, it can usually be easily removed. Our latest video gives a guide

Interesting review. For someone like me who is new to Airbrushing and will only be an occasional user, this cheap Airbrush might be all I need for weathering the 1/10th scale planes I fly.

Yes sure. For larger scale it should be ok. When working at 1/48 or 1/72 (1/78 for railway) some finer control can be desirable

Thank you for a very balanced review. Other similar videos on different things comparing cheap vs expensive feel more like the reviewer justifying their previous purchase. I agree if I can get into using an airbrush, and my first is still in its packaging, also an amazon special, I probably would upgrade, but definitely feels the right place to get a feel for is it something I can do.

I used a cheap airbrush for years and many of the early videos and models were made with it. As you progress in any interest or hobby you’ll get a feel for what you need from your equipment and then can decide if an upgrade is due. For the price though, I can’t really fault it

@@BuntersYardI agree and I think it's very much how you use it and what techniques and skills you have that get the best results. Have recently bought an airbrush after weathering without one for ages and find it does the job well and it's not an expensive one.

Hi I completely agree, if its for very occasional use the cheap one maybe ooooo-kkkkk. However it’s definitely pot luck what you receive. I bought a cheap set with a compressor and the latter is fine and works well, but the airbrush was useless, couldnt spray smoothly, constant splattering. Very shortly after had a Iwata neo TRN1 for a xmas present and the difference is HUGE. It all comes down to personal needs.

Like most tools, a better quality product makes the experience much more pleasant. With the Iwata I don’t need to work at getting a consistent result, and so I can concentrate on the job at hand. But for the occasional user, the Amazon airbrush will surely be ok. It’s usable, but the Iwata is more usable.

Nice video this video shows that you can still get a good weathering result even with a cheap airbrush. what would you recomend for cleaning the air brush?

The best way with this airbrush is to flush it through with water until it’s clear and then a little airbrush cleaner to finish up

I just bought an airbrush but found when using it to apply both paint and matte varnish thinned I got an uneven bubbly effect. Why is this?
