I got my hands on one but I'm kinda dissapointed. Adding a custom stream destination is possibile, but so far I haven't found a solution to add a destionation that is password protected. Also, my device did randomly restart a couple of times, luckily never during streaming.
It's great to be able to stream to RU-vid without software OBS or vMix. My students make small shows in our television studio, as assignment for my video course. They provide me with the streamkey of their RU-vid live event they prepared. I insert it into the software and can start the RU-vid event on their own channel live center, on there own laptop. Last monday, I managed to do 20 little streams in one day.
Is something like this necessary for gaming streams? Or is this just once you add a mic and camera? Then would it be useful/necessary for streaming game play?
Hey! Thank you for the video. I intend to start streaming from very remote places. And if possible, I would like some advice from you: 1. Among the multiple "power options" we saw on the back: how can I power this up with a battery pack? Which battery pack can I buy? - I have casually filmed with Nikon before, but I have zero experience with battery packs and stuff. 2. Would it be possible to use this with 2 cameras, a BMD Atem Mini Pro, a mobile phone (tethering), and NO laptop or HDMI monitor. While everything is powered on batteries? - I wish to travel as lightly as possible (even if it means using the Web Presenter's small screen) and an Atem Mini Pro to switch my HDMI cameras But I don't know is any of this is possible. A 100% battery powered setup.
Is it still necessary to stream via OBS if Web Presenter HD can handle the streaming itself? I have a livestream concert coming up in a few weeks. Ideally, I would like to stream from the Web Presenter HD and have OBS as a back up for streaming. Your videos are always so helpful and informative! Thanks!
Finally got a hold of one a few weeks ago. Replacing the original Web Presenter in my 2ru road case where it is teamed up with two Hyperdeck Mini's and an ATEM 1 m/e 4k switcher. I really love the monitor output. As well as the multiple options it has for outputting encoded video streams.
@@heretorecord It works Very well. The monitor out works as a final program monitor. So it's just two portable 15" displays used with the rig. Multiview and the Webpresenter monitor out. That WP display is fantastic. The only thing it's missing is a histogram and audio spectrum display. ;) (Give a mouse a cookie.....) The WP hangs off of Aux3 of the ATEM. The two hyperdecks off of 1 & 2. This way I have the option of not necessarily recording the same feed going to the web. (In case I want a clean feed for either output).
Nope - one streaming destination at a time. For split screen, you would need to add an ATEM into your production workflow and do all of your split-screening on that
Great quick overview of the new WebPresenter .. got mine a month ago but hasn't time to play around with .. looking forward for more indepht explonations on this handy little thing ....
Hi John. I would like to ask if you tried to connect it to wifi repeater directly? i mean i have an event coming and they told me that wifi only can be access not ethernet to the venue. so i was thinking if will it work if the venue Wifi router to wifi repeater/bridge to ethernet connect to web presenter hd? what yah think? thanks
Where both the Ethernet and the phone signals are weak, can you use speedify bonding software on a laptop to connect the WPHD through the USB type 'C' ?
Did you experience any caching issues during your testing? I purchased 3 of them and am unable to use any of them successfully. Yet I can stream with no problem with software or other hardware encoders.
@@heretorecord Amazing. Ill take a look and hopefully that will then give us better output from Extreme to RU-vid quality, because of web presenter HD. 👍
Hi, can you please send the details of the network cable you are using in this video. It is very thin and flexible. i am searching for such ultra thin network cable from long time.
Is there a way to quickly change the stream settings (to send to a different channel)? Ideally something that can be streamlined with macros (using Companion)
What camera did you connected to the Web Presenter Hd? I have trouble to use the web presenter to my Nikon D7200, any help will be helpful to where to get the proper cable (hdmi to sdi). Thanks.
I would like to see BM make it easier to adjust for using CBR vs VBR. I understand you can modify in XML file, but haven’t done it myself yet. Another item to for wish list, make it easier through app interface to add third party outputs. I agree on the HDMI. That would have been nice to add.
There are a few reasons why you may want to consider this device for your setup... - You have a switcher that does not have streaming abilities and want to add streaming to it. - You have a completely SDI workflow and want to live stream your event. - You want to not rely on one single device for the video switching, recording and streaming of your show. That said, if you are happy with your ATEM Mini Pro and you don't particularly see a need for this device, then it might be this device is not needed in your setup at all.
If you have the ethernet connected as well as a phone tether, is it using your phone's data the whole time or only if it fails over? Is the tether always the backup if ethernet is connected or can you set which one is the main/backup?
It will only use one connection at a time and you can choose the "connection priority" in the menu system. So the tether can be the main internet source with the ethernet as the backup!
@@heretorecord Thanks John. So just to be clear, it doesn't send the stream data (or any data) out to the backup destination UNTIL you disconnect the main? So you wouldn't be using data on the phone (if it's the backup) until it was needed? Also, what triggers the failover? What if the primary connection is just getting throttled (slow speed but the connection is still up), will it switch to the backup? Or does the connection have to completely drop? Thanks.
I bought a Sony HXR-NX100 camera and one web presenter... But the web presenter doesn't detect my camera I don't see anything on the small screen or when I open OBS... Why do you think? thank you
1) Can one schedule streams to start automatically? 2) If so does one have to type the stream key every time (create event first) or can it create new events automatically?
I only really know about RU-vid, and you could set a RU-vid stream up to auto-start. Additionally you can use the same stream key again and again on RU-vid.
Wondering how possible and/or practical using these to multi stream would be if you daisy chained 3-5 together. Maybe ATEM on location to a stream bridge, HDMI Splitter to a few of these, out to the audience. Could replace Vimeo or restream perhaps
You could certainly do this, but keep in mind that using a service like Restream means you ONLY need to send ONE feed out of the building, and let Restream do all the work from there. Running multiple of these devices in the same room will work however you need to make sure you internet is up to the task.
@@heretorecord Good point. My home internet is pretty fast, up to 1000mbps. Do you think it would be practical or possible to stream on-site to a streaming bridge at home and run 3-4 web presenters from home?
Especially if you doing zoom/teams you can get separate Audio. Found the Audio inputs very helpful sometimes unless if I’m just streaming to RU-vid/Facebook
That would have been an nice addition, though it would have changed the price a bit - it does take an internal reworking to add a recorder. Plus they also just brought out lots of new recorders so I am not surprised.
Is anybody facing problems with cache memory oh BMWP HD? There are few posts on BM Forum for similar problem from few users but i see there are no problems for other users. Can you do a video help us find out, what we doing wrong? I try several cameras with BM HDMI to SDI 3G converter. I can see the camera normaly, with sound. But the cache of BMWP is goinf after 1 min to 100% and stay there, no matter the internet speed.
Too bad they remove the HDMI input from the original WebPresenter! I really like having 2 input switching capability, it is so useful in many smaller scale situation.
It does not. You will have to push to another service like restream, but I don’t think you will like that answer. I’m actually not sure what the cheapest multistream service is
I use a magewell ultra stream for my streaming currently. It can push up to 2 rtmps streams at a time. It is comparably priced but lacks some features like USB webcam out or even live video monitoring. Everything is done through an app or a browser. It's a solid device but takes some getting used to.
Hi John, I am loving your content. I just ‘joined’ your Channel and would like to be added to your discord server. In the perks it says to DM you in discord to get an invite but I need both your user name AND tag.. can you please help?
