I always come up with the story before worldbuilding, but I do get disappointed when I come up with really cool world elements and I can't find a way to implement them into the story (example: accidentally creating a dark and complex backstory for a character who only gets 3 lines of dialogue).

Side stories can be a thing. While Sonic was part of Archie in the earlier days one of the characters had a story temporarily break off from the main plot that had nothing to do with Sonic. You can do the same for that character. Give them their own story seperate from the plot of your main one. ^^

Keep all your best concepts but maybe give it to a more major character. I've done this myself and it actually improves on the charactsr and the original idea a lot. Especially if the backstory is something consequencjal of the overall conflict. Also condenses down.your story.

World building has kinda gotten in the way of me making a decent plot. I focused too much on the world and not the story, but now I have a better way to go about it! All these comic guides are incredibly helpful!

Fun fact: We had not one, but two distinct species of horse present in North America that went extinct during the ice age. I've even seen it conjectured that North America is where all species of horse first appeared. So if their luck was slightly different 12,000 years ago your alt Canada could totally have horses. Also, every dragon movie I could think of didn't have dragons fighting each other... What a marked lack of dragon battles in Hollywood.

for me i get my characters, a general idea of the story, and then worldbuilding, then i start the story. it lets everything influence everything else without it getting confusing :D

I hate to have different weather conditions. Thats when world building begins to eat u alive! XD It all needs to fit too the magic they use mostly in the area.

Great!! I was just wondering if you guys have any thoughts on how to go about plot structuring in webcomics. Should you think about it like a series of books, with a focused storyline that spans through many chapters followed by another? Is it more relaxed, with space for lots of subplots and smaller stuff like that? And how long do they last for usually? Hope that was comprehensible, I've been struggling with planning and you guys have been my guides haha Anyways, you are both super great and I am loving all of your work very much!!
