Great video V/G. Two take aways, for my next low and slow are the temp adjustments and probe for tenderness technique. Ha, also @ minute 8:30, the use of the long nose pliars to move things around, lol! Best investment I've made so far...cheap too. Got it at your suggestion from another one of your videos.

Thanks again sir!

Also why do you use briquettes opposed to lump? I think I already know but do t want to jump to conclusions. I would guess it’s more even temps through the cook. Do you know if briquettes have fillers and are more unhealthy vs lump that are made out of 100% hardwood? Thanks for your videos!
@Viewtoagrill

@Viewtoagrill

I used briquettes in this video just because I think most people use kingsford briquettes in weber kettles. I use a lot of lump both in the weber and in my kamado.

Hey Johnny I was looking for this video because I want to invest in a second kettle and looking at the bigger 26. My question is do you think the diffuser plate from the E6 Kamado would work just as well or does a cast iron diffuser work better by absorbing the heat and keeping temps more stable?
@Viewtoagrill
@Viewtoagrill Год назад
Hello Daniel. I think the E6 diffuser plate would work for the 26... but still be a bit small... you may have a larger gap around the edges.

This was great timing, thank you! Going to do one tomorrow using the Aura Kettle Zone and the Tip Top Temp, it will be the first butt not done on my old Traeger. @@Viewtoagrill I t worked out great! It only took about 6.5 hours at around 280 degrees, then wrapped and put in a cooler for another 2.5 hours. I think next time with a bigger one I will try to keep the temp closer to 250.

Interesting cook Johnny. In case folks have trouble getting the diverter plate you mentioned the lodge cast iron pizza "stone" would probably work. And I definitely agree about the "splits" on the surface. Its going to pull nicely and won't matter. As to what to probe with I like using Harry Soo's preferred probe, bamboo skewers. They just have a nice consistency when probing. Hard to explain but I feel they work better then the thermometer probes. Anyway your pork looked fantastic. Ben awhile since I did some pulled pork, maybe I'll pick up some shoulder today. Have a great day 🌤 😀 🔥🐖🍻
@Viewtoagrill
@Viewtoagrill 2 года назад
Hello Victor. I will use the bamboo skewers if I had some. I just don’t buy them anymore because a have a few sets of metal skewers now. Take care!
@victorbenner539
@victorbenner539 2 года назад
@@Viewtoagrill Johnny same here on metal skewers. Really I only use the bamboo skewers for probing meat. I keep a jar full in the bbq area so I can just grab them as I need. I have the normal long skewers and the short ones also. Also great for pinning things together like stuffed pork chops, chicken etc instead of sewing closed. Multiple uses. Anyway great video. I believe I have caught up on most of your videos. Always well done. Fyi, I have picked up some tricks along the way watching your vids. So have a great day 🌤 😄👍🔥🍻

If I could like the video twice I'd do it. I've used the Weber baskets like a Slow-N-Sear and Vortex before, but nothing like this. It's brilliant. I gotta try this at home. I'm certain I could fit 3 maybe even 4 racks of ribs on my 22" kettle. One question: how long did it take you to smoke the butt?

I think it would be good for a rotisserie because there are no cords to get tangled. From the picture I can see that the probe is thick, I wish it was thinner. Also, it looks like the range decreases when the lid is closed. As for the one with WiFi… ever since my neighborhood was upgraded to 5G I have had issues with getting the WiFi connected so be sure it is 5G compatible.
