Is decay detection in trees being discredited by poorly executed tests and poorly interpreted results?
Why do so many urban trees get felled unnecessarily? This webinar will look at how bad law, poor risk management and weak arboriculture cause premature tree loss; identifying where the law and arboriculture must improve if they are to maintain public confidence through the biodiversity and climate crisis.
James Chambers is an arboricultural consultant with some 25yrs
experience in the industry. Initially an arborist, before becoming a tree officer and then Urban Forest Manager at Islington Council for over 13yrs. He has been at TMA for almost 10yrs now, leading the risk/condition and specialist investigation team.
He is also a VETcert veteran tree specialist providing management plans for ancient and veteran trees.
Later this year he will be part of the team providing VETcert training to those looking to achieve this outstanding qualification.
He is co-founder of the Ancient Tree Forum Essex local group and leads ancient and veteran tree walks around the county.
Russell Miller is an arboricultural consultant specialising in conservation arboriculture, veteran trees and ecology. He teaches veteran tree management for the Ancient Tree Forum, which he chaired 2014-2019. He also teaches orchard management and biodiversity for The Orchard Project, founded Tree Musketeers and worked for many years with Trees for Life. His previous career was in human rights law.
