She cried while she was singing during the recording sessions for this album because of the abusive relationships, drug abuse, and other turmoil happening in her life. The pain comes through in the other songs on this album (like the track My Life). Be Happy is the last track on the album because that's what she wanted the most during this period in her life.

@weeklytop5 hi Joe and Mike. Sooooo where to begin, I’m glad you like the song in it’s totality. I gave this particular video because I wanted suggest something from Mary’s earlier catalog. Unfortunately, most of the videos at that time visual quality is not very good. And as to your point to the repetitiveness in the video, most of Mary’s earlier videos are shot the same way, there’s really not a plot. Just great music and awesome dancing. Maybe during a MJB week 2, we can get the more cinematic ones. ( wink wink wink) I luv you guys. @peerlesskells9377 has a great list. 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
