This can be a very helpful tool for wilderness trip planning, because it shows you the actual snow cover in near real time. You can also stack different map layers on top of the satellite imagery and change the opacity, so you can see underlying roads and trails. If you draw in a line of your intended route and waypoints for the car, camping, Summit, etc., you can more clearly see how snow might affect your back country travel plans.
