I don't care what anyone says about Ween. These guys are killer in the studio and a real treat live (they can play just about any song by anyone ever written). This band has done things that very few groups can claim. Smart and hardworking jokesters at their best. love these guys
just remembering being there makes me glad to be alive. no matter what my mood. i can always count on times like these to bring me back home. ahh so much better. thank you!!!
I've been a Ween fan for like 7 years but have only ever listened to records. However I honestly have never watched a live performance until now. I never, EVER imagined that they would have been ranked into the Jam-band arena. Mind = blown, but not in a bad way. Only sad, sick individuals could ever not like Ween.
Yeah they're really not a jam band, so much as Phish covered them so they were offered a lot of Festival gigs and we're happy to take the paychecks I'm sure ;) certainly capable of jamming but improvisation was pretty rare in most of their tunes. Some exceptions (lmlyp)
"Hey, I'm gonna take a quick second and send a special message out to my friends, Aaron and Mickey... Guys, time to get back together and start playing again. That's from me, here at Blossom. WEEN, one of my all time favorite bands, time to get back together and start playing again" - Trey Anastasio 8/7/2015, after finishing "Roses are Free" durish Phish's first set at Blossom Music Theatre. TRUTH, TREY!
I fell asleep to TAB at Bonnaroo 2002! It was too much, I sprained my ankle, this was one of Housers last shows also! Good time but when you jump in a cow trough after being crammed in a humid ass field it gets old. If you have an RV completely worth it.
im a huge phish fan and have always loved this song. I had no idea it was ween!!! unfortunately all i used to know about them was they did the unfortunate daisy song. that being said, i have now jumped in deep with ween and there misic is amazing. Get back together guys, you golden age is still on.
I wish I new how big they'd be when I saw them in Vegas. In the coolest theater ever in Vegas. The huntridge. No concerts are there anymore. It was a small venue. And to see this crowd wow. I wish I would have embraced it more. I loved it
Yeah and when you watch the 2016 bonaroo performance that's on RU-vid poor Gene looks 30 years older than here even though it was only 14. I didn't recognize him at first. Shit ages you
The outro verse of the song: "Throw that pumpkin at the tree, unless that pumpkin holds your destiny...." They sang it together with their guitars! With a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Stratocaster! Did you hear that? OMG!
Almost everything about the band is sarcastic, so it makes sense the comment is as well...which means he thinks they're the opposite of 'worst', which they are! So it works!
I'm really interested in what the guy at the end of the video is about to say but the video cuts off. Does anyone know where the rest or the whole show is?
I get so fucking pissed when people credit this song to Phish. They're both some of my favorite bands, but you could pretty well tell it wasn't an orignal Phish composition if they actually listened to the song structure. This is much more tightly wound than any Phish track, at least in a live setting.
They always hated the final verse, their producer Andrew made them stick it in there. It's one of the reasons the fucked off and made a country album, because Andrew was becoming the 3rd ween boy
both phish, and ween can both kill, and destroy this song. i saw ween murder their own tune (roses are free ) a couple summers ago in bend oregon. I love them both, but this tune plays itself if the mood is right. no matter who the band. mama still dresses in black.
It's true. These guys were doing the cheap analog tape machine with it's pitch knob turned back way back when and you can hear it in Macs sound. Not so much today, but the first three records for sure.
