Weird and DISGUSTING Japanese Chips

Him mulling over what the heck those seaweed chips were was funny. That was literally just dried seaweed.

I heard “lotus root” and KNEW how this would end. My mom and I tried lotus root chips and they tasted the way the gardening section of a LOWES smells 😂

Whoo more Japanese stuff, I'll try to translate as I go. 1:11 "Demon Consomme flavor." - It's more like a soup than BBQ. 4:52 "Yamayoshi Spicy Chicken & Cheese" 5:07 "Strong tasting flavor" 7:24 "Wild Shiso Plum" 12:05 "Seaweed Chips" - Btw these aren't actually chips. They're dried seaweed, super common snack in Asian countries. 14:36 "Gatsundoon" Seems like a play on words that I'm not familiar with, but they're grilled garlic shrimp. "Gatsun" is like the sound effect "Thud" in English. 16:47 "Teriyaki Mayo "Sweet & Spicy x Rich & Creamy"" 16:54 "Crunchy x 4! The four thin layers create a crispy, light texture! So delicious, you can't stop at just one!" - Funny seeing the "Once you pop, you can't stop" phrase translated in Japanese. 17:07 "Sweet ＆ spicy teriyaki and rich & creamy mayonnaise intertwine to create an exquisite taste. 1. After frying we pour the mayonnaise-flavored cream flavor over it. 2. We finish it off by coating the chips in a teriyaki mayo powder." 19:32 "Lotus Root Chips ”Crispy fried lotus root with a refreshing lemon flavor”." Literally dried lotus root. Poor Peebs bought things that were clearly not chips. Btw the green thing shown is not what you eat, if you google lotus root, it's the beige looking thing. 22:14 "Comparing Tuna Chips vs. Canned Tuna. Tuna Chips are a convenient way to get DHA and EPA, as well as protein and iron. -> Next generation chips!" It's literally dried tuna, again, they aren't chips in the way Peebs and most people would assume.

Toasty hid a frame at about 9:16 that said "I chose to smoke" "This is what it cost me", and it had a picture of a raw whole chicken with a fish head smoking on it. He obviously takes his job seriously indeed.

Seaweed snacks are such a common thing to me that watching Peebs struggle to eat one is hilarious. It's like trying to watch a kid ride a bike for the first time.

That “seaweed flavored” “chip” you were eating was actually straight roasted seaweed with some salt on it. And yes, seaweed is very prominent in sea food. Just in general. I promise that I’d love at least half of the flavors you hated lol our tastes in food are opposite (I hate spicy and love sweet stuff and seafood).

Quick note for Trypophobia sufferers, when he says "I don't even know what a lotus root is," you're gonna need to close your eyes for four or five seconds. You probably already knew that the moment he said lotus root in the video, but I wanted to let you know exactly when the certain imagery happens. And no, this isn't me telling PBG to change his video or anything. In fact, I want him to keep it the way it is. I'm just giving a warning to people because I know how it feels and it ain't nice.

The reason why your Japanese reading app didn't work on the Honey chips is because it's Korean. Also, the seaweed chips were just straight up seaweed. And tuna from a can is delicious.

"Its like paper" I mean..yeah, that's seaweed. To be fair you may have not had it so there's no shame in not knowing about it.

As someone of Japanese heritage, I find it endlessly entertaining to see a grown man question whether or not seaweed is a chip. And it's even more entertaining to see him nearly throw up eating some. Never change Peebs.

Started getting addicted to Calbee hot and spicy this weekend at a con. It’s basically bbq chips with a slight tinge of spicy, they’re great!

The Honey Butter Chips are actually Korean, fyi Also pro tip, dried seaweed is muuuch better when eaten with rice. Specifically sushi rice. But if you don't like fish much, it might be a lost cause 😂 Edit: as was pointed out below, these chips aren't just Korean - it appears they were made jointly between a Japanese and Korean company. The bag that Peebs is opening is written on in Korean and almost certainly was packaged in Korea, however.

All of these sound delicious to me besides maybe the lotus root. I could eat tuna out of the can of even fresh out of the ocean every day. Seaweed is also great with it's only downside being that it's not very filling or satisfying.

Fun fact: Since Pringles aren't sliced from the potato and instead pressed from what is basically potato dough, they actually aren't classified as a chip in America. If you read the small text towards the bottom of the can, it says Potato "Crisps".

Spam Sushi is actually called something else. It’s referred to as Musubi, but span sushi does kinda sum up what it is. Also that was just straight up dried seaweed and it’s a pretty popular snack in both Japan and Hawaii. I personally love it, but that wasn’t true at first so I can understand why others wouldn’t.

*Next challenge:* Peebs orders and tries expensive imported snack food that he actually thinks he'll like this time
