On Aug. 3, 1987, Twins pitcher Joe Niekro was suspected of doctoring the baseball. The umps asked him to empty his pockets. It did not go well for him - he tried to hide an emery board - but it was pretty entertaining.
Joe and Phil, the best bros to ever pitch. And, occasionally, they. . .like Gaylord Perry. . .cheated for amusement because they were just getting old and tired of waiting for the rest of the league to catch up. ; )
What did he do wrong? It was in his pocket, how could he doctor a baseball on a mound in front of the world? It was in his pocket!!! Did he take it out and doctor a ball??? It’s legal to use the board on his fingernails. When did he doctor a ball?!!!! When and where???
@@metalmacabre9991 show me the video where he scuffed it. He had the file in his pocket for use on fingernails in dugout like all knuckleballers did. No way did he ever pull that file out on the mound and scuff a ball. The camera would see that.
@@metalmacabre9991 not by a pitcher taking a file out on the mound and filing a baseball. Baseballs get scuffed all the time. Watch the game and show me him filing a ball on the mound. It was in his pocket. Not even a magician could do that on camera and fool the world.
