'weird', 'strange', 'interesting' - these aren't the words that came to my mind when I saw the cultist pricing.

Legends say that Auspex once ordered from GW Made to Order character and decided to post a video every day until it arrives... Legends say he is still posting to this day.

Demoralized players don't spend money.

Honestly I have got to wonder if GW is trying to shove people off to 3d print stuff. At the rate their model pricing is going a printer, a curing station, and a few liters of resin is going to cost less than a combat patrol box by the middle of next year.

Single mini prices will always be infuriating. My honest opinion is to just proxy as much as you can to save money, or pick up the model in combo boxes.

Sadly the chaos warband was a perfect Necromunda cultist gang. RIP.

They removed the cultist warband set so they could delete all of the ranged weapon profiles for cultists that were in it.

They're practically begging people to 3d print that Firebrand. This is a dinky model for that price, one that probably won't make a big difference in the game.

My guess is the teased mechanical thing is part of the upcoming Horus Heresy Mechanicum range. They've already announced it and the rumour engine posts are timely

I have literally 2 firebrands at home bc i bought the Black Fortress Cultist like 2-3 years ago. The boxes were almost as much as this model now...

As a Sister collector this shit is ridiculous. A palatine puts you back £22.50. You get a slightly different sister of battle with 2 heads and either a bolt or plasma pistol, that's it. Not even a full 10th of a battle sister squad which is £37.50.

And I picked up the cultist warband from a discount retailer the moment it disappeared from the Games Workshop store.

I guess I made a lucky decision to grab that box of BSF Cultists + Firebrand back in 9e at that reasonable-er price, lol. Pity can’t use the special weapons anymore…

I understand that usually the prices for characters are expensive because "they sell less of them" but I would say that's GW fault: not only they are who design them and make their rules, but they could sell them in a set of, I don't know, five miniatures for the price of a squad with a bit of options for building and, ta-dah! There you have a perfect box not only to add leadership to your army but you can also make conversions for units' sergeants, test paint schemes in cool minis, etc. And the "joke" of including the firebrand and not the rest of the unit in the codex is stupid.

It blows my mind that people still buy miniatures, 3d printing is so immensely superior for the hobby. It gives you access to way more miniatures for your money and you can digi-kitbash them or just sculpt your own.

GW's pricing has been out of wack for a while. Dire Avengers used to be boxes of ten for £25, then they went to £21 for five. Guardsman used to be twenty models for £18, then became ten for the same price. I don't think it's ever made sense.

I custom ordered 10 meganobz and 40 heads for under $100 through a 3d printer service....vs 70 for 3 meganobz. Just need the oiler grots now and ill have the equivalent of 3~ of the megnobz gw kits for a bit under half the gw price.

I think the men of iron lookin claw is a genestealer cult, genestealer/aliens cargo mech type thing, seeing that the GSC codex is just around the corner

that Daemon engine rumor is weird, because that orange claw is from UR-025, who is the only known living Man of Iron. It's not just "looking" like a man of iron, that picture is EXACTLY of the model that came with Blackstone Fortress.

Not exactly a hard model to kit bash, could just use the old flamer model on a 32 as a firebrand.

That leg picture is an armiger. If you look at their legs they have those distinctive round honeycomb bits on the back of the knees. So whatever it is, it's probably a new version of an armiger model, likely chaos but possibly imperial as Knights proper only have 2 but chaos has about 4 currently.

I got that cultist guy in the Cultists Of The Abyss box from Blackstone Fortress and it was super cheap if I remember correctly, like £18 from my local Boyes shop. Hell I think they still have another one in there. Like I literally bought the box because it was next to nothing and had cool models.

The teaser for the Daemon engine looks like a Chaos War dog or Armiger, completely the same leg as a War dog Executioner or Huntsman. Very excited about both of these news as I play Chaos Knights and own the Cultist Mod box.

That claw arm from the rumor engine looks kinda familiar. Reminds me of the arms of the AoS Khorne Khorgorath, it has that weird armor padding with grills too.

I know i would have bought more of those single Stormcast character models purely as painting projects if they hadn’t been so expensive like this Firebrand. Im lucky enough to have gotten the old Cultist of the Abyss box.

I do believe I purchased the last one, but the best deal I ever got from GW was the genestealer cult guardsman squad. A regular ten man guardsman squad usually cost about $60. The genestealer box came with ten guardsmen, a heavy weapon, and an upgrade sprue for ten bucks less. Accounting errors are basically the warhammer equivalent of a flash sale

I'd guess either knights or... chaos guard??? Looks similar to sentinel leg too and possibly chaos powerclaw on a commisar? Would work with cultists and existing renegade units to start to expand into a faction

The rumour daemon engine definitely follows the pattern for armiger legs, and with the chaos bits, it seems like another wardog variation. Considering that theres 5 versions already, surely adding a big knight to chaos would be a better choice.

speaking of Necromunda, their gangs are £30 for 10 models (unless they're much smaller models like Squats and you only get 8 for some reason) and there's a few that would make a decent starting point for a Cultist Firebrand model, as well as giving you some extra cultists or maybe even a Dark Commune

The little cylinder sticking out of the leg is the same as the Onager knights. Its a little chaos/dark mech knight.

I was standing in the GW shop on saturday and when i saw that price i turned around to a mate of me who was playing and pretty much "yelled" to him "The Firebrand is only 3€ cheaper then the Cultist box he was in, what the hell!?". 2 more people tuned in, one Admech, one Tau and both started rambling about theire problems (Points per €, Kroot xD). I've been to the shop for years now, but the new manager i feel a bit sorry about, since he has to deal with GWs constant BS and the whole aura of the shop is starting to shift hart.

I just got the full kit he came in just a couple months ago. I was planning on buying a single character then saw the Cultist Warband for the same price in my local game store so I got that instead. was surprised when I couldn't find the kit on GW's store.

As there are no new daemon engines in the CSM codex. The daemon engine teaser is most likely an update for an existing unit. It could possibly be a new Defiler model.

Happy i got 2 warband boxes last week for necromunda too :-) that is a big price increase from 8 models to 1 for somewhat the same money.

Would be great to see soulgrinder/despoiler update. But the teasers don’t seem to be pointing that way

The leg in the bottom right is 100% a Wardog leg. It’s the exact same thing.

As an Aussie, a character costing more than the unit is perfectly normal really, or St least character tax is outrageous. Now I could get 10 jump pack intercessors for 180' or I could get 5 and a captain for 170. Hmm

well... looks like imm kitbash me 3 Firebrands to go with my 3 kitbashed cultist command squads, my 3 full squads of mutants i baconverted, my 60 cultists that started as Cawdow gangers and the 30 traitor guard kitbashes. because if im going to pay too much for units im going to have them look how i want them and not just be 5 poses over and over again. ive always found it kind of weird that half the chaos legions have kick ass unique units but the other half just have preferences for different generic units. id love to see word bearer, night lords, alpha legion, iron warriors and Black legion unique units to reflect their different focuses as legions. how cool would it be if we got, Word bearers - Dark chaplains, pet demons for squads, and unit option to possess units in play to buff their stats. Night lords - unique Jump pack squad, unit upgrade that causes battle shock, Chaos hover bikes. Alpha legion - [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] Iron warriors - Breecher teams with super heavy armour and bunker buster weapons, fotresses that are actually usable, unique Demon engines Black Legion - the only legion with access to abbadon.

£22 for one tiny model is indeed insane. But so is £30 for 10 tiny models. Everyone seems to forget that those 10 models probably cost a few pence in materials. I get that there’s wages, distribution etc but damn. The way they’re going they’re running the risk of pricing themselves right out of a customer base. I know I spend about 50% less now than 18 months ago

The demon Engine is maybe a updated Defiler.

At first I took the pricing for a mistake on the site where I typically buy and had to recheck it on GW site. GWs greed is getting ridiculously - personally I know no company which raises its prices every year and now this.

Hoping for World Eaters demon engines. But feel like that is fall at the very earliest.

GW pricing model is ridiculous! 21 BPS is 26 USD rounded up, yet we get the shaft with ludicrous markups. It could be worse though, could be paying in AUD.

I picked up the kroot box for my tau and have been loving building them. Heck, it seems like i got a free, second flesh shaper. But, one unit annoys me. The krootox rider. Looking at his stat line, he looks very solid. The problem? They can run in squads of 3... and are sold at $55CAD per model... i think its now the worst dollar to point model now. Each one being 35 points.

auspex i like the channel but have you any idea how absurdly powerful even a single man of iron was ? either some actually incredibly boring retcons would need 2 happen 2 make them playable or they would be far far too powerful for the game. a mere handful of even weakened, shackled men of iron (excindio) posed an exterminatus grade threat, scouring all life from a world in mere hours (a feat a titan legion could not match). Oll Persson describes the Cybernetic Revolt as making the Horus Heresy look small and personal by comparison. UR-025 is not what men of iron typically looked like based on descriptions of excindio, which were multi legged and towered over the Lion, and UR-025 deliberately limits his capabilities to maintain a disguise

Single mini prices are weird, I usually try to justify it by assuming most of the price is due to the box itself and its associated costs of transport, production and storage rather than its contents, so basically every kit has a minimum cost of like 15 squids no matter what it contains and the model itself is like 6.

Man, i love my 3d printer. Equal quality, fraction if the price. Now, i would love to be lazy and not use it, in fact, sprued kits are fun to build. But for these prices, GW can genuinely suck my.... well, you get it

GW goes through cycles of building trust then shattering goodwill. It's a corporation at the end of the day my advice to everyone is to get the main models you like and then join a local club and proxy the community is the heart of the hobbie and for the most part will show you how to play and paint

$35 USD... for a single fucking cultist model. I know we have all been bitching about GW's prices being completely cracked for, what, decades at this point? But this is is something new and special. $35 for a model that your average Primaris could curbstomp.

Pricing isn't something new... I remember, back in the day, my White Wolf Grandmaster was only a bit cheaper than a box of 8 Knights of the Knightly Order... Hell, a single Priest of Sigmar on foot was almost as expensive as a box of 20 Swordsmen... It was always a bit insane.
