Roku seemed like a confusing choice, but anybody can watch it for free, even if they don't have TV service. I like the fact that by the time he reached adulthood, Daniel Radcliffe already had more money and fame than anyone could ever hope for, so ever since then he's been taking roles in bizarre and off-beat projects, just because he can. The door-to-door saleseman thing is true, sort of. As Al tells it, the salesman offered either accordion lessons or guitar lessons. Imagine learning to play the guitar early - he'd the be the sexiest guy ever, maybe even Eddie Van Halen. His parents (who were generally supportive in real life) chose the accordion for him. While somebody else played Tiny Tim, Salvador Dali was played by the original Tiny Tim. "They're tasing him... like that's the most ridiculous thing in this movie." Technically it is, tasers didn't exist back then. "Is that Diedrich Bader?" Damn, you're on point. I had no idea until after when I IMDB'd this shit. The entire point of this movie is that it's a parody of movie biopics. Almost none of that happened. His person life was pretty normal. But it's the kind of thing that an Oscar-winning biopic would say happened.

Salvador Dali was played by Emo Philips.

I feel like Al chose Roku because it’s such a weird choice tho, like any other streaming platform most likely would pick it up bc they knew it’ll do well but he went with the most outrageous one

Non-parody songs: He’s has many originals. He also has some pastiche (copies the style, not an individual work). The single Dare To Be Stupid is a pastiche of Devo.

He also performs straight covers as well, including Tom Petty, Elton John, Deep Purple, The Clash, Little Richard, Violent Femmes and more.

This feels like a documentary that the UHF channel would have aired.

17:44 only his best songs! Look deeper in his catalog. Albuquerque is like his Stairway to Heaven. His Ill-Advised Vanity Tour was almost nothing but originals and it was the best of the 4 shows of his I've been to.

Fun! Al has indeed done originals, not to mention the many style parodies where it's a new song in the style of a specific band.

My favorite was Pancreas. It came out after Brian Wilson finished his masterpiece Smile and went on tour around 2004.

100% factual, as Al notes in the intro on the Roku Channel. In the short that preceded the full-length film, Patton Oswalt played Dr. Demento, but when it came time to film he had broken his foot. They thought about having Dr. D wobbling around on crutches for the whole film, but in the end decided to switch to Rainn Wilson at the last minute. My favorite jokes are when Dr. Demento tells Daniel Radcliffe that he wants to be his DEMENTOR and when the record exec, played by Al, and his brother, played by Will Forte, are talking to Al, played by Radcliffe, and Forte is telling him that he's ugly and untalented and so on, all while the record exec (the actual Al Yankovic) is squirming and looking very distressed. Anyway, I'm waiting on Andor to finish the season, then I'll binge all of them along with your reactions.

It wish it could have happened without Patton breaking his leg, but I am really glad they went with Rainn for the part, he was absolutely perfect.

I think My Bologna was one of his first songs, there's a clip where he performs it in 1979. No, it's Weird Al himself doing the singing. Pretty sure that's the original Eat It-video. "Huhuhuhuhuh, hey baby, wanna see my accordion? Huhuhuhuh" (It's a joke =P)
