That is incredibly clean compression and very suitable for mastering for sure. Nice product, definitely want to try it against the Sonoris mastering compressor.

I just purchased the Weiss Compressor then upgraded to the DS1 but haven’t used it because it seemed daunting. Thanks for this overview/tutorial. I definitely want to try each feature

I have a stupid question for anyone but especially softube lol - the limiter gain meter on the left is equivalent to let’s say the gain / gain reduction on the pro L 2? and the GR section meter is a compressor that’s before the limiter? so it’s two stage? Or is that GR meter only used when the deess is being used? I feel dumb I’ve read the manual like 3 times in just trying to see if I understand this right or wrong lol. Just bought this finally and stoked to learn some more.

Are the different EQ filter settings independent? I mean, does that single knob remember where the frequency was set for HP, BP and LP? In case you want to use it as a "multi band" compressor?

i've tried to find that out too, the manual is very sparse on that, but it seems like it's affecting just one band. Would be too good to edit all 3 types simultaneously.

From what I understand This is a 1 to 1 replication of the hardware unit which was actually digital software in a physical unit And it seems like it's been kind of a secret weapon It's a really transparent compressor/de esser/clipper With filters to target low end or high end Alot of control on release as well And it's very transparent for getting that loudness If you use this before you hit your limiter, you're going to be able to push your song even louder than before It's also on sale rn, but still expensive

Is there anyway to compare before after but with the same level of loudness ?To be sure how much you are affecting you mastering for example ?

There is! With the fairly recent addition of 'Extended Features' to most of our plug-ins (including the Weiss DS1-MK3) it's become really easy to match the plug-in's output to the loudness of the input. You can read more about it here: www.softube.com/extended-features

The music sounds amateur. And the plugin did not help at all....I already have this plugin and this video did not convince me to use it

It really depends on the mix. If the mix suffers, no plugin can help. What I like about it, is how transparent it is when used lightly, but also how it sounds even you push audio into the the limiter. It really is that good.
