I had a big wind storm that made a mess not only around my house but also all over the fields requiring much cleanup before I get get crops planted. With one mess after the other I have been covered up busy just trying to keep things from falling apart and turning out customer work in the meantime. Hopefully more shop videos soon!

Trees are great while they are erect and healthy. When they come down it's amazing the volume they consume. Nothing some diesel and a torch can't rectify.

I feel for you Bryan. I had the same thing a couple weeks ago. The tornado broke the tops out of 20 or so trees that were 15, 16 inches diameter. Several didn't break branches, but all the leaves were stripped off. It was a mess like you said.... I was blessed and didn't receive any damage to any vehicles or my house. All the branches fell all around everything but not on anything. Miracles still happen, thank God!!!

Here in Germany we don't have tornadoes. That's what we used to say. This last weekend roofs were blown off houses in the village just above us (thankfully, we live in a valley, where flooding is rare, but possible). Sorry to see your mess there. We just have branches to pick up and a few trees to trim the broken branches out of. Wishing you less dramatic weather.

Very Sorry to see that Brian. Glad you're ok & your buildings are still standing. We had 3 tornadoes come through NW Arkansas early Sunday morning on Memorial Day weekend. All but leveled the town of Rogers. FEMA has been here since cleaning up all the large Oak & other trees that came down or were uprooted with their big tandem hopper semi's. There are still broken power poles & transformers all over town. My power was out for 2.5 days. My son's was out over a week. Things are slowly getting back to a degree of normal, but the town will never look the same. Lot's of businesses were wiped out. Hang in there & don't overdo it with the clean up in this heat. Pace yourself. Always enjoy your machining videos. Sounds & looks like you really have a full plate now. As if you didn't already have enough to do.

@@bcbloc02 Thanks Brian. Thankfully my house, garage & vehicles were untouched. My son has 2 coffee can size holes in the roof of his house from a tree top that was broken off. It'll be late August or September before roofers can get out to repair, as they're so overwhelmed with work from all the damage. Hang in there buddy hope all your clean up goes well & that you have some help with that. Sorry to hear about your roof damage. One bite at a time is all you can do.

Sorry this has happened to your home again. Poplar trees tend to come apart in any breeze, then they make hollows in the tree and get even worse about breaking apart when a strong wind gets into them. I am not going to tell you what to do but I would remove the poplar before it strikes again. Oaks are nice to replace them but take a long time to get to the same size.

I’ve got 4 acres and planted most of the 50 plus trees plus a bunch of evergreens. They are a lot of work but when people visit they comment the place is like a park as they sit under the shade, enjoy the view and the wind break. My neighbor has few trees as he is adverse to work and spending money on buying new trees and his place is very unappealing in appearance, shade and wind break. So I will take the trees and keep picking up the sticks and occasionally take one down due to weather or disease. The older I get the more I appreciate my trees and when I don’t I guess it’s time for the assisted living and the next owners will then enjoy the trees.

Best guess is it was built about 1830. It was for sure here in 1847 but don’t have any real documentation before that. The root cellar had a brick in it I found marked 1792 but I don’t think the house is that old. Maybe? But probably there was a previous house.

You have a lot of chickens, do you sell the eggs? I saw in New York that 18 eggs go for almost $9.00, dang, fifty cents for an egg! Three years ago you could buy a dozen eggs for a buck, everything’s way up in price though. Take it easy cleaning all that up in this heat, looking forward to seeing a little more shop work when you have some time. Hope everyone enjoys the 4th of July holiday and you all stay safe out there!
