Both of my parents are deceased, due to other causes but my best friend committed s*ic*de 1 month after I found my mother. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know it's something that's harder to relate to others the younger you are. Glad to know you sought help for your mental health. I started wellbutrin again today...the 1st time I started I didn't take it long enough because my past drug addiction issues got in the way. I think with this working more with dopamine receptors, it'll be more beneficial to me. Fingers crossed! I hope you're doing the best you can for the time being. I know the holidays are tough. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Thank you for this, I've been to scared to try it ... but I'm going to now! What I've learned is that EVERYONE is SO different. We all react differently, so we have to try it and not base our decisions or opinions on others experiences. Thanks again for sharing.

So I read this super fascinating research article that the word “high functioning” like anxiety, depression, addict is actually a really disabling word bc having these things isn’t functioning lol so they want to change it to a “high masking” bc we are so good at masking it but it still affecting us so much on the inside and that shouldn’t be overlooked at bc we are still experiencing it.. just curious on your thoughts !! It’s super new and I loved it so I was curious
@toriebrame3419
@toriebrame3419 Месяц назад
Interesting! I think of the meaning of functioning and while it’s not ideal - I can keep a job, wash myself and my kids, feed myself and my kids, pay bills on time. So I’m still a “functional” member of society. I agree we are masking tho! I also relate it to autism - high functioning autism can have jobs, relationships, degrees etc. low functioning people might need special care and facilities. Just like low functioning anxious people might not be able to hold a job etc. those are my thoughts 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ take it with a grain of salt ❤️❤️

How does Wellbutrin feel compared to adderall/stimulants? I have ADD and anxiety/depression, and have been on stimulants for a decade. Now, the side effects of adderrall-horrible anxiety, overactive CNS, etc- have gotten really bad for me, and I am trying to stop adderall. Adderall has become way too intense for me even at a low dose, and is wreaking havoc on my body and causing dealt bad anxiety every day. My doc suggested Wellbutrin. I am concerned that it will feel just like adderall, with all the similar side effects I am trying to get away from. Can someone advise me on this? Does Wellbutrin feel at all similar to adderall in this regard? I don’t want another med that causes increased anxiety.

@toriebrame3419
@toriebrame3419 2 года назад
I totally agree they look the same. The psychiatrists I saw ruled it out because psychosis only happened 1x with the high dose steroids as a catalyst and never before or since. Psychosis is a side effect of steroids so they said it was just that. They said that if it happened repeatedly I probably had bipolar. That was 5 years ago now and I’ve had nothing since, so I tend to agree with them that it was just the steroids.

Why aren’t you seeing a psychiatrist? Primary care physicians should only be starting you on medications…and then the psychiatrist needs to take over. See specialists who specialize in these medications!!
@toriebrame3419
@toriebrame3419 2 года назад
Hi! I have been to a psychiatrist and that is where I got diagnosed. Here is my thinking on why i don’t see one at the moment: a specialist in every medical field should be seen when 1) you need a diagnosis that a primary can’t reach, 2) need a medication that a primary is unable to prescribe or 3) when you are unsatisfied with the primary doctor’s treatment. I have my diagnosis already so that checks the first box, I am taking very common medications, and lastly I feel safe and confident with my primary doctor. Depression and anxiety are so common that if everyone who had it had to go to a psychiatrist the waitlist would be years. My thinking is going to a psychiatrist for depression is like going to a sports medicine surgeon for a sprained ankle. BUT not all primary doctors work well with these medications so I highly recommend finding someone you are completely safe with including a good psychiatrist. I’d also love to hear your perspective on this 💜
