Editing this was more of a stream of consciousness then me having a linear story to tell. I feel like people really underestimate just how much Wes and Lilah have in common and how much they really do understand each other on a level no one else can (as much as Wes tries to repress this fact...and well, everything else...)
I'm in the middle of a season 4 rewatch and vidding WL is the only thing getting me through it, okay!

Aaww omg I love this video!! It demonstrates what we were talking about when it comes to our fave enemies to lovers ships: the understanding. They really KNOW each other! It's so cool how you incorporated so many scenes and voice overs that show that! Like "You think you know me?" "Better than she ever will" and "who knows you better than me?"! That's brilliant! Aaww okay but like I started to tear up at the "I'm sorry, Lilah" with the scene where he made her keep the Fred glasses on! I think that apology WAS covering all of that. It wasn't just that he was sorry she died the way she did. He was sorry he hurt her and didn't appreciate her enough in life!!! How did you just rip my heart out like that?! Hehe the "shut up" parallel was so cool! And I legit get SO pissed at the "Charles doesn't have it in him" moment. UGH. Like you got NO issue USING Wesley and making him feel like a piece of shit in the process. Hmph...and then TURNING ON your precious Charles after he SAVES you, just because he didn't live up to this pedestal you put him on. Oh God...sorry I just get triggered lol 😂 I never thought of this, but "I did what I had to because you couldn't" + "You know, I never really understood that. You're the guy who makes all the hard decisions, even if you have to make them alone." Wesley always being the one who does the hard shit.😍 I'm just so impressed with your videos, and I'm happy you're in such a zone with the vidding lately and that it's keeping you sane through the second half of s4!! Awesome job, love!! 💕💕

Aww thanks Ashley, I love this comment and obviously really agree with everything you said!! I really wanted to emphasize the understanding between WL and how much they actually have in common (even if it may not be obvious on a surface level.) I know people always talk about how WF are so similar because they are both cute nerds teehee but like honestly their "similarities" are so incredibly shallow/surface level, he and Lilah have so much more in common regarding their darkness, their pain, their insecurities etc. I know a lor of people say that "dark Wes" is just him putting on a front/masking his pain (and thus making the "real" Wes the cute nerd version) but I honestly don't agree with that, I think this version of Wes was the truest version of himself, it's the only time he finally stopped caring about what others think of him and had the most self-confidence. Breaking up with Lilah and crawling back to Team Angel was a regression (not that I don't want him to rejoin Team Angel because of course I do, but the way he went about it was a disappointment.).

@@1SnoWhiteQueen1 Of course I completely agree with you on everything you said! The similarities between WF are purely surface, while the similarities between WL are actually deep. I definitely think that after being cast aside, Wesley was able to finally stop trying to be what other people wanted him to be. He was no longer seeking that approval he was desperate for his whole life (because of his abusive dad). It's one silver lining (along with WL of course) to come from that trauma. And it's very unfortunate that the writers decided to have him run back to the group to seek that approval again. Obviously I wanted him back at AI, but not in the way it was done. His breakup with Lilah proves it all. He doesn't really believe his black and white stance. He's trying to be what Fred wants him to be while pushing away the person who actually accepts him for who he REALLY is. Why? Because he actually doesn't believe he DESERVES love. His father really messed him up. Poor baby /cries/ so yeah, he knew himself that Lilah was his true partner, but he didn't think he was worthy of that, so he pursued the unattainable Fred where he would never measure up. 😭
