West Chicago Railfanning

After filming trains in Franklin Park, our production team continues another busy day along the tracks. For the first time, we gave West Chicago a chance during the winter. Usually we’re in that area during the spring/summer time. But this time felt a bit different as the weather reached 40 degrees! However, it was a bit chilly in the morning and towards the late afternoon when we packed things up. Meanwhile, the action in West Chicago was quite busy. JB Tower saw the usual parade of Metra trains before the first few freight trains came through town. The Canadian National sent more freight trains than the Union Pacific for most of the morning and into the afternoon around lunch time. Once we got settled during our usual lunch break, the action got busy once again. In addition, we were praying and hoped we would either see Metra F59PHI 90, Union Pacific SD70ACe 1111 since it was tied down in Elburn, and/or a Canadian National Heritage Unit. While none of these didn’t show up, it was still quite a busy day in West Chicago. Coming up next, we make the trip eastbound on the Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision in Wheaton, Illinois before officially wrapping things up in February and moving on to March in hopes of warmer weather.
