Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this video we see 3 days of West Coast Railways operations in the northern fells featuring 2 of their engines.
We start by seeing the flagship loco of the company rebuilt Merchant Navy 35018 British India Line working The Railway Touring Company's The Cumbrian Mountain Express at Oxenholme Lake District.
Here we see the bulleid in fine fettle whistling through the station with 11 coaches in tow & no diesel on the rear. This was 1 of the closest calls in our time filming at Oxenholme as seconds after the train cleared the coming towards shot a container train went through heading the other way.
The filming for the return leg was cancelled due to poor weather conditions & with thanks to the train's manager an agreement was reached for us to board BIL's train & part route it back to Preston.
No filming was made on this one as we wanted to relax & enjoy the return run.
A few days later we see West Coast Railways's black 5 44932 as she worked the company's The Pendle Dalesman from Lancaster to Carlisle & back via The Settle & Carlisle.
We start on a beautiful sunny morning at Hellifield as we see 44932 arriving for a water stop before she attacked the climb of the long drag.
We catch her next at Settle at the start of the long drag with her in fine fettle with 10 coaches in tow & no diesel on the rear.
For the return run we see her at Armathwaite but only just as the northern class 158 was leaving the station just as 44932 came into view but thankfully it was not all together as we see 44932 head south.
Unfortunately while on route to Preston which would have been next filming news came through that during her water stop she was terminated at Hellifield due to her fire bars on the front of her ash pan melted & was declared failed which resulted in her 1st failure since returning to steam.
The train went on wards back to Lancaster with diesel traction denying the sight & sound of an unassisted Black 5 up Wilpshire Bank.
2 days later we see 35018 British India Line on The Settle & Carlisle in much better weather conditions as he worked the company's The Dalesman steam hauled from Hellifield to Carlisle & back.
We start this day at Ribblehead viaduct as we see 35018 cross over the viaduct with 13 coaches in tow & despite the warm weather no diesel on the rear.
We end this video at Armathwaite once again to get BIl thunder through the station.
Thanks for the company during the days getting 44932 & 35018 British India Line of ‪@philclarke3203‬, ‪@bodorganboys‬ & ‪@schoolshorts‬.
Thanks for reading enjoy the film.

Good capture. I see that you just managed to avoid your shots being bowled. Bobby the Black 5 is a credit to the main line, despite the melted firebars incident. He needs new ones. Fair play to British India Line, she did well I must admit. Keep calm and carry on filming.
