Wow! The first few season of West Wing were FIRE! It's nice getting several minutes worth of flashback therapy - to remind me how life USE to be in America.....
Don't kid yourself. Life was *never* like this in American politics. This show is amazing; a national treasure of brilliant writing, directing, acting, all rolled up into one package (for the first four seasons anyway; after that the small blip you see way below your water skis is the shark of Aaron Sorkin's departure). But it was still a show. Nearly everything in it is grandiose to facilitate its rightful place as a weekly prime time drama. I love this series, own it on both full DVD and on-demand Prime, and frequently revisit it from time to time (though I just-as-often use seasons 5-7 for beer coasters). But it was still just a show, and reality has never been anywhere close, be it in the past, present, or visible future, of American politics.
Two call backs in 3 minutes. The obvious one about the call girl, but the other funny one was the police officer doing there ' here and here' with the same cadence and numbers as the security guy did when showing where the cameras were around the west wing.
"I'm sorry I don't remember who I borrowed this phone from"I thought that was very interesting, was the point just that he is so focused on his job that he entirely fails to recognize the beautiful woman from whom he'd borrowed the phone? His loyalty to another? I don't know the show that well, you tell me what that was about
He just got out of jail for defending the pregnant ex-wife he was still in love with, so he wouldn't notice if Charlize Theron started dancing naked right in front of him.
While the US president would have massive informal sway in any criminal case, presidential pardons/commutations only affect federal charges and sentences, not state or local ones. Not to mention the fact that pardons to inner-circle members tend to look very very bad and an order of magnitude moreso in the middle of a campaign.

Yes. And it was both funny, And poignant. Because Charlie was wrongly accused... but he was pointing out Charlie only spent Two Hours... not 2 decades in prison. So, hey Charlie, don’t think you’re suffering... get it? I swear, it’s like people don’t even understand how good writing packs meaning into even the briefest phrase. It wasn’t making fun of Rubin Carter’s unjust incarceration... it was making fun of anyone thinking a couple of hours in prison is real suffering. And it reminded any Thinking viewer of the real injustice in our legal system.
Right? I'd have LOADS of videos to share if all I had to do was set my phone down and hit record while I watch TV. LOL. Take at least a LITTLE bit of pride in things you share with the WORLD.
