My dad used to love to go there. He'd take me on Saturday afternoons when I was a kid in the 70s to walk around and enjoy the courtyard and browse in the shops. It was still a nice place to go then. Too bad it went downhill so fast.
I loved this place when I was a kid...this was the 80's and it was still running but it was starting to decline. After 1983 there were several somewhat successful revival attempts, but nothing would stick. Love the pictures in this! At 1:18 I believe is the Bull and Anchor, which my parents ate at a few times back in the early 70's, and is hard to find any pictures of.
I loved Westbury Square. My favorite shop was called the chemist shop. It was owned and ran by mrs. Webster. She was like a high Couture gypsy. Very sweet. And in my early twenties I ran into her son and House of Pies. He was cool and eccentric like his mama. And I think he was good friends with Baryshnikov. Miss Webster wood mix up your own personal fragrance. She just was incredible and new what she was doing very well. I think she worked in the Cosmetic department at Neiman's at one time but I'm not sure. I miss it. It was the place to be before Galleria. Kind of like Houston's own Lord of the Rings. 💅💋💄🦄👍😻😳
