Imagine playing as the Sarmatians attacking Rome and thinking "Oh I'll just auto resolve this one" then you end up losing and getting your faction destroyed
I've been here for about almost 5 years now. On again off again. I remember being 10 and watching your exploit guide and from then on I thought you were a God or something 😂. When I'm 30 I'll look back and watching your videos will be a good childhood memory and your videos always make my day all that better. I honestly hate to see you sad, you make my life so happy I wish there was something I could do. For now I'll give you a hug because you love them so much ;).
The Sarmatians were proud people, they had defeated they had survived the Huns, they had defeated many Roman garrisons and other tribes, they had made their way to the gates of Rome itself outnumbering the defenders at least 10 to 1 they were sure that their names will go down the history as the conquerors of Rome so they rallied their troops and invaded the city walls, hearts full of joy minds already busy thinking how they were going to split the Roman treasures and as they were thinking about all this.... They died... They just died.. All of them men women children and the elderly... The entire nation just got nuked to hell... The end.
You could do challenge campaigns such as: Julii with only fire pigs Egypt with only elephants Celts with only head hurlers or charriots Gaul with only wailing women Cataphracts only Aztecs with aztec units only ;) Empire total war with 0 land units
I like this new idea, it's shorter and just more action paced. I don't usually have the time to watch the whole SYDC episodes, but with this one it's different.... Of course once in a while if you find interesting saves (like 1/week), it'd still be great to watch an episode.
I knew you were really good, but holy crap that was beyond impressive. I've learned so much about the mechanics of the total war series from watching your videos and that has made me a better player. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your life to make these videos for us. I know I for one look forward to seeing an upload from you.
Thanks for sticking with this game, man. It's so fun to see people enjoying RTW years after it came out. Makes me want to play a BI campaign. I tried it once a long time ago, but I always preferred the original. Now I'm playing Rome 2, but I still like the RTW engine better. Who knows, I might hop back onto my Cimbri campaign in Roma Surrectum III. Can anyone recommend a mod for the BI timeline? I might do one after a go at the smooth cartooniness of vanilla.
Hello Legend! Your videos are awesome, thank for the work you do. First thing I watch in the morning with a cup of coffee! I usually play Medieval 2, but seeing you save this Rome campaign just gave me shivers of nostalgia!
I love you SYDC series, i cant watch every episode as i got alot to watch and play my own games, AND work full time. So when i see a really cool video youve uploaded, i add it to the Watch Later and watch it when i get the chance, i love seeing you come from the brink of defeat, to being at a stage to conquer completely. Like one of Alex the Rambler's videos i literally commented "Give it to Legend, he'll turn it around in an hour" im hoping to see that video soon, cause i love see how you win these campaigns man.
The ballista chariot units or the lack thereof are the reason the Western Roman Empire fell. The Sarmations fed their armies in piecemeal and had nothing that could stand up to the Romans in combat, except the Generals who showed considerable reluctance to enter the City. Legend exploited their weaknesses brilliantly to fight a handful of exhausted units and killed their generals who were skulking outside..
Maybe if you find a battle you can’t win and someone else cracks it you could show the replay of their battle and give a commentary? Who knows maybe even another TW you tuber could do it, then muh collab
As always Legend, you astound me. This is the umpteenth time I thought "There is no way he is extricating himself from this". And EVERYTIME SO FAR you have not validated my prediction. Damn fam.
Hi Legend, longtime viewer, firsttime commenter. Like the new direction this channel is going (and has went). You should test-pilot multiple new series to run in parallel, like SYDC and this - fights off the staleness and always fun content. So maybe 1 or 2 SYDC a week with other series trickling.
I'm liking the idea of this series. If you wish to continue SYDC, I'd recommend only doing one or two of them a week. They're nice and I enjoy watching them, but they need to come out more sparingly. I'd also recommend making the guidelines stricter and taking in more unique campaigns from different games and factions. Love your content, and I'm glad I found your channel. I've heard of you before, but SYDC was what led me to actually start watching. Best of luck to you in whatever you choose to upload.
I would actually like the saving your disaster series to continue in the same way as before, because you did a really amazing job on them. Or at least you could make a revamp sometime in the future.
I've had similar amazing victories before in Rome Total War. Winning those 10 to 1 odds, at minimum, are so thrilling to experience lol. I've been playing Shogun 2 recently and experienced a 3k defending army against 10k siege attackers. Totally spanked them and it was the last siege I witnessed at one castle, after defeating roughly 20k attackers from the past 8 turns in that SAME castle, before making my offensive plans and taking revenge upon my enemies crushing all 3 of them.
Similar things actually have happened. Mass routs from cavalry charges and huge slaughters have happened many times, when if they stood their ground it would have been an easy victory. That's why good training is so necessary and you shouldn't put idiot untrained troops out front. The guys behind can't see anything so if the guys ahead of them start running, you start running and you all get run down and murdered.
Good vid as usual tbh, would enjoy seeing the odd SYDC with some Warhammer 2 saves as I've recently went into the series after watching your videos and have been enjoying them, especially any tomb king videos!
I enjoy(ed) the SYDC format - would still like to see one every so often, maybe less frequently, if it's burning you out. Best parts for me were the ever-creative ways in which you got yourself out of complete hell.
If SYDC worked so well in my opinion was because it was a good and quick way to soak up the ambiance of an entire campaing and to see your skills/cheeses/exploit, and learn a thing or two . These are'nt present anymore or less present with the Last Stands, maybe another series could respond to those lackings ?Maybe an educationel one ? in any case I liked seeing you manage your empire and get into a quick campaign changing the odds in an hour and a half. :) A big thanks for everything you do and keep up the fight !
Un... fucking... believable... this man... just took out an entire HORDE faction... in one battle! I can say without a doubt that this is your finest achievement ever! They don't call you LegendofTotalWar for nothing!
Legend, I want to let you know you have all the support from your fanbase, as i did in the last SYDC. Kudos to you for keeping up👍 You are going to make it no matyer what. As a side note, can you put the link to the previous SYDC? I really want to try the Rome 1's:)))
SYDC are awesome...figured this Last Stand deal was the original idea but save files were less Fucked than you intended. Regardless your battles are Legendary
As to the saving your campaign videos; They are great, I feel that over saturation was your enemy Make fewer and they will be special. And return to the full title not the abbreviation.
I would argue that a part of the problem with SYDC series is that the videos can be long, however I think that it might be more so that the first half of the video is saving them from immanent defeat and the second half was putting them into a good position. It wasn't supposed to be "putting you on the path to victory" series, but should have been a "last stand" series. As such it probably should have been a series where you do only a couple of fights or turns, avert the immediate disaster and hand it back after 30-60 minutes of play. I originally thought that SYDC would be more like LS, but i guess you got caught up in being too nice to the people sending in campaigns. The series wasn't supposed to be about fixing their mistakes, but preventing their immanent defeat.
I think doing save your disaster and last stand could be done once a week each. That way you have a great community interaction outlet and it should stay fresh longer. Disclaimer though, i really have no idea what im talking about.
Its good to see a new format but im also sad that SYDC won't be uploaded at least for a long time. Maybe when the Three Kingdoms game comes out you might get some more interest.
i dig this style, the incredible hard battles at the start are usually the highlight of the video. and you can only do so much on the campaign map before it get's kind of samey. It's still a good way of showing of your skill and knowledge of the games and that's cool. But the novelty kind of wears of.
