It is not Meta to the viewer but it is meta to the creators. They are writing stories of characters writing stories that they want to tell. Just as the actor needs to play a character acting as another character/characters and have development and change on all levels.
I can't believe they wasted this amazing actor on unnecessary and overused drama in season 1. Luckily, she got her full potential in the 4th season. I hope she comes back in 5th.

Hard to explain but I find Wood to just be a boring person and all this talk of how great she is on Westworld does not resonate with me. She comes off just flat and the scenes I like least in West World are the ones she is in but worse is when Teddy is there. The Teddy character is even more boring than she is. She was cast because she is actually naturally robotic and one dimensional.
Not enjoyable to explain but I find Wood to be a vile succubus who has falsely accused a man, recruited other women to falsely accuse a man & committed many crimes to falsely accuse a man so she can protect herself from & dissolve choices she regrets & could be 'canceled' for from her past. Instead of taking responsibility for her own past actions.. like choosing to dress up as a Nazi & similar behavior, she decided to attempt to ruin someone's life to have something to blame her past choices on. One can't say "I was afraid for my life, I was living in terror... it was pure hell" in one sentence then in the next say "I had no idea I was even being abused until 10 years later".. can't be both. I hope she is held accountable for the crimes she's committed against Manson, this new trend of falsely accusing someone & ruining their life to become a hero victim has to stop. I was violently Abused for almost 6 years and it's so disgusting to claim to be a survivor of DV for one's own prosperity.
