Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp (the predecessor to today's Fox Corporation) purchased the NFL's NFC division in the early 1990s. It led to TV stations in NFL markets, mostly markets with NFC teams (including the Green Bay Packers, who went to Super Bowl XXXI and won their third Lombardi Trophy.) switching from ABC, NBC or CBS on a VHF station to Fox. In many cases, it was a letdown for many markets whose ABC, NBC or CBS affiliates had to move to a UHF station...in most of those cases, the picture for most of those channels came in fuzzy. Packers fans in two markets benefited from the affiliation switch in Green Bay, the Packers' home market (where WLUK-TV 11 switched from NBC to Fox) and in Milwaukee, the Packers' largest market in terms of fans (where WITI 6 switched from CBS to Fox).
