Great insight, Josh. I love my Wahoo’s but love hearing about other products.

I have had it since launch, and I’ve enjoyed it. Your points make sense and I agree. It’s a great headunit but it has its quirks.

Great video.. I was an early user of the first version which I loved but when I upgraded to this version I ended off sending it back... I definitely think they missed a trick not sticking with a larger screen. lovely looking device but hopefully sram injects some sense into the 3rd iteration.

great video as always ^^ i have the k2 for a few month now and i have never had any issues with uploading routes as i have synced the k2 with my komoot account... when i create a route on komoot it is automaticly uploaded on my k2 :-) i must admit that the battery is quite weak... but it doesn't bother me that much, when i know that i will be on the bike for a long time i just take a powerbank with me...

I honestly think the battery is fine for 99% of people. At a leisurely (or uphill) 15mph pace, you can get 120 miles out of it - enough for any route I can imagine and most tour de france stages. Even at a very slow 10mph that's still 80 miles. For any ride where you care about weight, that's more than enough. If you need your battery to last longer than that, how likely are you to be in a use case scenario where you care about the additional weight of a battery pack? And in any case in those scenarios you would be using a battery pack regardless of how good the on-board battery life is.

Its price point is definitely intriguing but coming from a Wahoo ecosystem, it seems like it would be a lot more cumbersome, based on the reviews I've seen. I really like the underdog that they are but really hoping for a K3 sometime soon. This could be a great unit. I think there should be an app for the device as well. I'm anti any new apps, but you'd have to do that with any of the other major competitors anyhow, so its not really a knock on the product. Its just a convenience thing. It is much easier to quickly pair your phone and computer and send the data via a PAN connection, than it is to deal with having to connect to the wifi on-device when in the middle of nowhere if you don't want another SIM card. I think the feature is great, and having the sim card option is honestly kinda awesome, but the lack of auto-upload to strava and other apps make that a non-negotiator imo. I'm all about the functionality on-device, but they need to balance usability with functionality. Wahoo go completely in the other direction where there is little routing you can do without your phone, which isn't great either.

I stopped using mine because of the battery and some missing features. For example, the integration with Garmin lights and radar is poor. Also, considering the device runs on Android, I don’t understand why there isn’t an equivalent to the Garmin IQ system for third party apps. I really wanted to like this device because the screen is so much better than my Garmin 1030, but I just don’t. Hopefully, the version 3 will be a winner.

What's poor or missing in the mentioned integration of Garmin lights and radar? Planning to buy a Varia in the near future...

It's not a good computer for endurance riding. I need to carry an external battery for it.

Maybe you have a faulty one. I had mines for over a year and I do endurance rides. My battery is at about 90/95% when fully charged after a ride. I don't even charge until about a week, and that depends on how many days I've cycled during that week.
