The city of Calgary will make an announcement on Monday afternoon after the Events Centre Committee meeting about a new arena for the Calgary Flames. TSN Calgary Bureau Chief Salim Valji joins Jay Onrait to discuss.
@@ref1634You’re forgetting the fact that is pounding the fLames into oblivion is part of why your team torn down it’s roster and is rebuilding. Get ready for a long period of darkness that’ll last Jonathan Huby dooby scooby doo’s entire contract while McJesus, German Jesus and the gang lead us to multiple cup wins
The new arena was approved under nensh then gondek got told by flames contract is terminated in 2022 during the pandemic everything got revisited what it would cost now in 2024 compared to the 2019 cost..
@@AstroTrain100 you can't just start building right away, you have to do the pre construction phase which is finalizing the plan and mapping and laying out all the systems in place and the correct coordination for everything
So after the bill is paid by the taxpayer, will said taxpayer get some kind of break on parking, concessions or an actual respectable team? Or will we see business as usual with a much higher price tag?
Here's what's worse - ALBERTA is paying for the 'infrastructure required around the arena. How would YOU feel if you were paying for the infrastructure around ICE District in Edmonton? Thought so - Danielle Smith the two faced liar that she is (she demanded Notley NOT commit Provincial money to Edmonton's project and she didn't, but boy did that change when she wanted Calgary votes!). Here's the rub now, she opened a can of worms, as now ALL communities in Alberta are asking for this - and now you'll be paying for projects in Grande Prairie, Spruce Grove, Red Deer, and Lethbridge. Aren't we lucky!
The Calgary Flames owner is worth 2.7 billion and the taxpayers are getting their taxes raised for them to build a new arena for his sports team. The public fattening the pockets of the severely rich.
Dude what are you talking about. Calgary sports and entertainment (which the flames owner is part of) will pay 38 percent (356 million if the cost). So I don't know why you're just spewing bullshit to get some point across and the city says that taxes will not be raised so well see if they stick to that. Do you do any research before making statements?
@@DrZaius I'm not really that poor lol, that's besides the point. Im literally telling you that CSEC which the owner of the flames is part of, is paying 38 percent of the arena cost and there are no plans for the city to raise taxes specifically for the arena. Can you not read or do you literally just ignore facts?
@@mostimusic2616 what? What are you talking about? The saddledome is outdated and tiny, and when we have the new arena, it'll help attract talent from other teams.
@@papironni4690 Sure. So if that is true, why would Calgary get $330 MILLION PROVINCIAL FUNDS for it's Arena....while Edmonton got ZERO? By your logic, Edmonton would be in far greater need of assistance than Calgary. So why the discrepancy?...Also Forest Lawn? Edmonton has both forest's and lawn's, I assure you..We are talking about Arena's.
@@editz3376 So.....why should the Provincial Taxpayer be expected to pick up that tab???...If Edmonton could get a brand new, state of the art arena, AND surrounding area built up costing ZERO Provincial Dollars....Why can't Calgary get an equally state of the Art arena/area for ZERO provincial dollars? Why would they plan otherwise?
So.. Calgary is getting a new Arena & rebuild. Lol. Guess that we will be looking @ a 3 year wait till Calgary can or will make a Playoff run!! 😂 No Veterans to help the youngsters.. No Playoff experience!! 👍 Way too go. 🙄 I will tell you what will happen in the next 2 years. Craig will be gone, Calgary will be looking for veterans & in their 3rd. Year, Calgary will be moving!! 😮
@@terranboot9405Ever since McJesus single-handedly tore the Cowtown lames franchise apart they’ve been a dumpster fire ever since brad left. At least when Darryl and Brad were in charge the fLames actually made a late push and barely missed the playoffs by 2 wins. Conroy and Bustka on the other hand…. Traded their expiring contracts for sticks and stones and are stuck in a 6+ year rebuild
