Today is the second part of my initial video on scarification. This time however I had help, after making a purchase I put the WR6002 scarifier and raker from Screwfix to the test and was pleasantly surprised!
Look forward to a video for the overall build and I'll discuss some features of the machine and the build quality and sturdiness.

I used this for the first time today, I read a lot of reviews regarding the box filling up quickly so used without and went behind with the lawnmower, a huge difference in the lawn already and pleasantly surprised just how much moss it removed (.. literally just kept coming).

I'm pretty sure it won't ever stop! 🤣 It still amazes me every time how much moss is actually removed

I bought one of these from Screwfix a couple of weeks back. Works really well. As you say, the collecting bag fills very quickly and I ended up using it without the bag, as recommended by some lawn experts on RU-vid. Obviously you have to be careful doing this and raking the thatch up afterwards takes a while. From a 100m2 lawn I removed enough thatch to fill 3 large wheelie bins. Incredible!

Hi Phil, yes I noticed that I filled my wheelie bin up rather quick, I only went for a light scarify this year as I didn't fancy top dressing and overseeding again

This is a fantastic little machine. I produce a verticutter cassette for it, which transforms it into a great all-round lawn maintenance tool…

Thats actually an awsome idea, does it scalp down deep enough or do you weigh it down with anything?

I just used this today and its a beast. Well worth the money. I only used on highest setting and passed once over the lawn. Gonna try the raker next. Yh the box is bit naff and you have to hand rake the moss up etc but i guess you may have to with other machines. £69 bargain screwfix. If you have ever took a dog for a walk then its your turn to be taken for a walk by this machine lol

Hi, thanks for the comment. Completely agree! Really good bit of kit for the price and I haven't tried the raking attachment yet either, hoping to give it a whirl this weekend if the weather stays nice.

@TheBaldGardener its class. Its a beast just like the scarifier. If theres patches of grass that has little or no moss n thatch left then it simply runs over it but if there's thatch there it drags it out. Again may have to hand rake. This would be good to use throughout the year if needed i think. Maybe 3 or 4 times in the year. Depends on lawn and part of country.

Forget the bag use a leaf blower after to pile up the thatch. Mine plus the leaf blower does in two hours what previously took two days and does it better.

Thanks for comment and that sounds like a really good idea, I'm going to be using the lawn rake attachment today and will be doing this with the bag off.
@Doraus1
@Doraus1 10 месяцев назад
I know it’s a pain emptying the bag every pass, but leaving the thatch on the lawn will also leave any POA and Weed Seeds, that you will be helping to spread, and a high percentage will still be left after raking and using a rotary to suck any remaining thatch

@thebaldgardener just bought one of these on the strength of your video. Do you recommend going with the scarifying or rake attachment first? Our lawn has never had either and seems like it’s more moss than grass so was thinking scarify on the max setting but didn’t want to end up destroying my lawn.
@TheBaldGardener
@TheBaldGardener 2 месяца назад
I recommend you scarify it, start on the highest setting but if your going to renovate your lawn it's worth getting rid of all the moss, be sure to remove the bucket and rake up the mess afterwards or you'll be doing a fair few trips to the green bin

Hello, Is it powerful enough to put grooves into the soil? Thus enabling grass seed to fall into them when come to overseeding? If I may look to purchase because, petrol scarifiers are so expensive
@TheBaldGardener
@TheBaldGardener 11 месяцев назад
Hi Craig it is powerfull enough to do that however I wouldn't recommend it as its not what it's been designed for, hope this helps
@TheBaldGardener
@TheBaldGardener 9 месяцев назад
@In__My_Opinion it has a manual that explains not to go to low with the raking attachment. It states that it's not.desinged to leave grooves like a verticutter would. I could imagine you could use it to create grooves but you'll be seeing the motor burn put fairly quickly
@CJ70-
@CJ70- Год назад
Hi does it also aerator or don't you normally not need this function
@TheBaldGardener
@TheBaldGardener Год назад
Good morning, no I'm afraid it just scarifies, pulls out the thatch, I haven't ran it on the lowest setting yet but it looks like it would leave grooves in the soil, which would aid with seeding. I manually aerated with a separate tool I have, hope this helps.

On such a small lawn lawn it would be easier without the collector and rake up afterwards and follow up with the mower.
@TheBaldGardener

After this video I did do it without the collector and it actually made the whole process a lot quicker

Hi Steven, yes it is loud However this was quickly forgiven after realising how much easier it was for me to do besides raking it out by hand.

@TheBaldGardener
@TheBaldGardener 2 месяца назад
100% this will be my third year using it, all I'll say is ensure you remove the basket attachment at the back or you will be forever nipping to the green bin, I raked up the moss afterwards.
