***************************************
In this Jazz guitar lesson I'll teach you my easy, beginner friendly instrumental (chord melody) arrangement of What A Wondeful world by Louis Armstrong. I'll show everything note for note, slow and easy.
You'll learn all the What a wonderful World guitar chords as well as how to play the melody along simultaniously. This is called chord melody style or What A Wonderful World solo jazz guitar instrumental.
I tried to go through all the guitar chords slow and easy, so you really get to see every single note played. I also have a complete playthrough of the entire tune.
The guitar chords are easy, I promise! I did not fill every little gap in the melody with rhythmn, in order to keep it easy. I'm sure, if you follow my What A Wonderful World guitar tutorial, you will be able to play What A Wonderful World instrumental very soon. Take your time and practice bit for bit, like 2-4 bars every practice session.
This guitar lesson teaches you the jazz chords used in Louis Armstrong version of What a wonderful world and not the Sam Cook version. It's an early jazz song and I kept it that way. Jazz chords all the way. But they're easy ones, so no panic :-)
I've also made the What A Wonderful World guitar tabs. You can download it from the link in this description box. I also made a What A Wonderful world backing track / Play Along, so you can start practicing right away. No excuses ;-)
I hope my version of What A wonderful world is to your liking and easy enough for you to start this song. Again, I've tried to keep the chord melody arrangement as simple as possible, without making it sound bland or boring.
If you like my What A Wonderful World guitar lesson, please give me a thumbs up and share the knowledge and the love. I'd be happy if you'd subscribe my channel, since I have tons of other great jazz guitar chord melody lessons up here.

I am playing guitar for 10 years, and when you said it's really reasy to learn and accessible to anyone, I was like "ok I should be able to learn in 10 minutes"... but.. am i the only one struggling here ? Those jazz fingers positions are killing me.

You should always, always know the basic jazz chords first, before attempting the king's discipline of Chord Melody. Check out my 2 chord tutorials: 1) Basic Jazz 7th chords (+ explanation!): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qx9hQrYx-8c.html 2) Jazz Tension chords: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-86vKnTC8_QI.html Otherwise you're just learning stuff by heart like a monkey. Understand what you're doing - theory helps a lot here too - and this one will be easy cheesy. So generally speaking, when I say "easy", I mean easy for Jazz :-)

Dont give up! Sandra's lesson on basic jazz chords is super helpful. Learn your roots on E and A and basic shapes then just play slowly. Getting the shapes in your muscle memory will come. I think of my fingers like origami, they fold and move around. Then music starts to come out🎶

Hi Sandra, a poignant tune and it follows shortly after my soon-to-be-80 mother, on hearing louis Armstrong's version on RU-vid music last Sunday, said she wants to have it played at her funeral, but maybe she'll hear her son playing it on her birthday 🎂🤔. I hope you get over your cold quickly, but you know the old saying about a cold, it'll take two weeks to go if you treat it ( take a remedy) and a fortnight if you don't!
@GuitarversumSandraSherman

Oh, your mom will love it when you play it for her for her next birthday. It's really easy! The video was shot a couple of weeks ago. But I feel like I'm getting a new cold and I'll shoot again on Saturday 😔

Yes, really helpful and easy but great arrangement, i like this chord progression....and i like your teaching, just what i look for, a plain lesson to give us the change to add a couple of licks in between chords when they need to be played, never taking in abuse....jazz is a subtle sort of art, it ain't showing off as it is metal shredding....cheers sandra....

Agree with you, but I've encountered many jazz guitarists at sessions, noodling solos for hours. That's why I tell my students to sing their solos along (at least in their mind), so they have to breathe in between phrases, to stop the noodling.

Another great choice. I would truly enjoy lessons from the "Great American Songbook". There are so many wonderful tunes that easily adapt to chord melodies on the guitar. And at one per week, you can have an entire catalogue, in about say, 5 years? (Rod Stewart got 4 CD'S out of it.) Take your time, no rush :) Thanks for all your RU-vid lessons

Which tunes would you suggest, Abe?

@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Thank you, I'll have to consider which I've had the most difficulty with, when I'm home later this evening, as I have been working on quite a few myself. But I'm certain I'd learn a lot from seeing and hearing your voicings/arrangements (I always do). I'll send you my first short list. There are so many great tunes from which to choose. As you surely know, I so appreciate everything you've done here to date. You've created a meaningful presence on RU-vid.

@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Sorry for the delayed response. Life sometimes gets in the way. I looked at your catalog of lessons and, wow, you've covered a lot already. It is enough to keep any guitar student occupied for years. May I suggest, (what may take a series of lessons) would be, how to construct and arrange a chord melody. That said, here's a few songs that I didn't notice that might be interest to others as well. So.....in no particular order: The Nearness of You, Don't get around much Anymore, Stardust, also.... Desafinado, One Note Samba. If you've already covered any of these please forgive me. After these, I'll have no more requests for years. A million thank you's for all that you have done in providing "Joy to the World". Now that I've given it some more thought, I'm not quite done with my list. What do you think about teaching songs by Burt Bachrach? He's composed some really wonderful tunes.

Very nice Sandra, and I liked the subtle use of tremolo during your performance. I find it amusing that the usual name for the vibrato arm on guitars is called the tremolo, as vibrato is a change pitch and tremolo is a change in volume. :-) xx

Just wanted to say that I absolutely loved your video and guitar piece. Nice chording and very detailed instructions. I learned it easily with a few of minor typical tweaks. It's a great rendition of the Louie Armstrong version.
