Over the last two years, the all-new Ford Bronco has undoubtedly been the talk of the town amongst the off-road community. But as capable as this platform may be from the factory, there are still those who wish to modify nearly every aspect of this SUV to better suit their trail-bound needs.
Enter the RTR Bronco Fun-Runner. As an evolving member of the off-road aftermarket community, our host, Matt Moghaddam, introduces us to a new build that was created to showcase some of the new off-road accessories made by PROJECT X. This build started life as a humble 2021 Ford Bronco RTR, built by Team Nitto drivers, Vaughn Gittin JR, Loren Healy and their team. But the guys at RTR and Fun-Haver Off-Road didn’t stop at the styling cues of the RTR Bronco.

Fun-Haver Off-Road has been developing a line a aftermarket parts for the new Bronco platform, first released on their own 2-door Bronco build at the Ford booth last year at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. This initial 2-door build gave way to a whole list of products that will soon be available to all Bronco owners, but Matt and his team at PROJECT X got a chance to build their dream Bronco before the masses.
Starting off with the body, Team Fun-Haver knew the only way to fit larger off-road tires on this platform was to give it some more clearance and suspension travel. They designed a set of fiberglass front and rear fenders that sit 5 inches wider than the stock body panels per side. This additional clearance allowed them to develop a mid-travel suspension package, boasting a 6 inch wider track width, RCV axle shafts, upgraded steering and sway bar links, and a set of Fox 2.5 inch coilovers with remote reservoirs and valving adjusters on each corner of the vehicle.
And speaking of larger tires, the extra clearance and suspension travels allowed them to run a set of 37x12.50x17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on this Bronco, wrapped around a set of RTR Tech 6 Beadlock wheels. The combination of the Trail Grapplers unmatched traction off-road and RTR’s virtually indestructible wheels means this rig can air down to single-digit pressures for maximum bite on even the most treacherous trails.
Along the body of the Bronco, Fun-Haver developed a set of front bumper tubular end-caps to add some styling and extra protection to the factory Ford front bumper. A set of four PROJECT X HP.70 lights were added, mounted to the front bumper using RTR brackets designed specifically for these lights. Along the roof line, you’ll find a set of five PROJECT X FF.70 lights, paired with a mounting bracket made by the RTR team that bolts into the factory “Accessory Read” ports on the Bronco roof.
Any serious off-roader will attest to needing some underbody protection, and Fun-Haver has a solution there as well. A set of tubular rock sliders were added to the build, complete with kickouts for added protection in the rocks. At the rear of the Bronco, you’ll find a similarly styled tubular rear bumper than adds strength and ground clearance to the rear of the Bronco, and a full-size spare tire mount to secure the 37-inch Trail Grappler to the tailgate.
Inside the Bronco is a set of Recaro racing seats, mounted using Fun-Haver brackets made specifically for the Bronco that allow for forward and backward adjustment. A set of RTR molded floor liners and a BLIZZARD BOX 41QT portable fridge/freezer finish off the interior of this build.
In terms of performance, this Fun-Runner Bronco is running a K&N Cold Air Intake system and upgraded charge pipes, to keep the air flowing into the turbochargers as cool as possible. And MBRP catback exhaust frees up some additional horsepower by letting the 2.7L EcoBoost breath easier.
Matt and the team at PROJECT X intend on pushing this build to its limits, and have already done some heavy wheeling in Moab this year during Easter Jeep Safari. We’re excited to see where this new 4-door Fun-Runner Bronco takes them, as they venture across the US in search of new trails for the all-new Ford Bronco to conquer.
