Great choice .... just has the Lomo front pannier bags delivered ( last set from Amazon in the uk) and I have the 40 litre hold-all type dry bag again Lomo for clothes but in bright yellow so I maybe will be seen on the bike ! I have the RE hard panniers for my tools and spares in one and my expensive stuff in the other ( drone lap top camera etc. ) thanks for the video

Quick tip. Deal directly with Lomo. Cheaper than ebay and amazon. Crazy fast delivery. Brilliant company.

The crash bar bags tricked me but the more you spoke about what luggage you wanted the more I thought Lomo? Couldn't believe it when you had chose them what a bargain they are. I have used them for about a year now and are still like new. They should have gone back to Scotland last week but because of covid we have had to postpone until later this year. PS don't forget when you do have an off they will protect the Himalayan not damage it like the Aluminium ones would and if you ride into a lake your bike will float. Great vlog Ronin 👍

Slowly shaking my head with a big fat grin on my face! Here I am scrimping and saving (I'm restricted to a budget too) for my Himmy and thinking I need this n that and that and that and I see this post and by golly I already have several dry bags with handles n everythng needed to strap them on my Himmy. Whhoooop, sure is good knowing I can make do with them and will be just fine until i can get paniers or whatever I need down the road. Back when I started looking for a light touring motorcycle and finding nothing I knew then I had to custom build one myself. After a little research I discovered the Honda VLX 600 Shadow had forks and a gas tank that would allow mounting a 1970's era Vetter Windjammer fairing. I found a complete Vetter Windjammer touring setup at a local cycle shop with an extensive parts yard. There was a Kawasaki bike in it with a complete Vetter touring setup on it including the fairing, bags, and trunk. It all cost just $100. I fabricated a bracket for the Windjammer fairing and got that on the bike. The brackets for the bags needed only slight modifications to fit so I got those mounted. The trunk was a little more difficult. I had to design a rack to mount the trunk bracket on. Craig Vetter designed the Windjammer, bags, and trunk in a wind tunnel so the bags and trunk are oddly shaped and most people think they are ugly, and they are. The positive aspect of that is they guide the air to the rear of the bike so you don't get air coming back and circulating on your backside. If it's raining you'll actually stay dry as long as you're moving. Your clothing will also stay road grime free. There's a reason almost every Honda GL1000 Goldwing was fitted with Craig Vetter Windjammer fairing bags and trunk in the 70's. The bags unlock and detach from the brackets in seconds and become hard case luggage with carry handles. I love all of it despite how ugly some people consider it. It's all function over fashion. Today it's all fashion over function. I would find and fit the same bags and trunk on a RE Himalayan.

Nice choice going with Lomo - I did the same. First picked up the tank guard bags, running them with the Moose Racing Expedition hard (aluminum) cases mounted to the RE pannier rails for touring when lockability counts and only light offroad expected. Doing more off-road, and loving the tank guard bags, last summer I picked up the Lomo panniers and added a bright yellow Lomo 40liter "holdall" drybag for the top case. All very waterproof, very sturdy and have held up very well to the many drops and camping trips. In the same order, I also picked some lightweight dry bags to further consolidate the gear inside the bags (just in case the bags do ever leak, or anything in the luggage leaks). And an impulse purchase was the Lomo leg bag / dry holster - very waterproof!

I have a tent, sleeping mat, chair, off ground fire mat, sleeping bag, stove and some other stuff all in the same Lomo bag you have. Excellent value for money. Good choice.

Great choice Jeff. Lomo gear is really high quality,looks awesome on the bike and waterproof for sure. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it in future videos. My local RE dealer has a great deal on Euro 4 Himmy’s right now. They are fitting what they call an “adventure pack” to the bike. This is hand guards, pannier rails and panniers. It works out a fair bit cheaper than buying all these accessories separately. Anyway; my lovely wife Ann, has told me I’d be daft not to get one, so I did, should arrive at the dealers next week. I’ve fancied a Himmy for ages now. For the first time I have not test road one. You, Itchy Boots, Kamakasi and Wiltshire Man have convinced me I already know how the bike rides. Giant loop seems to have some great options too, and it's a US company. But Lomo is a great choice too.

Hey Ronin ! Great choice of motorcycle bags. But you should have considered too have atleast top hard pennier box , as you can keep your expensive stuff inside and it's lockable too. And on top of top pennier box u can strap another soft bag or u can strap a extra tyre for long journeys

Nice choice, also look into Rynox a brand from India, they also have some good quality Riding gear & luggage options

Giant Loop makes some interesting soft luggage as well

Ok, i'm jealous....I just have the Kreiga drypacks, one 30 litre and 2 x 20 litre and an Oxford magnetic tank bag on mine, no pannier frames, just an SRC frame on the back carrier to tie the bags to.

I am glad I did not have to tell you about the LOMO stuff after the event, it is about the best value for money soft luggage you can get.

Expensive yes but I went all Wolfman. I got the B base and run two large rolies in back and two medium rolies up front. Got the medium roll top duffel for extended trips. I went with the system because in like 3 minutes I can completely remove all my luggage and be running a stock bike again. And I can configure it in different ways if I want. Plus it’s so well made. Great video though. I’m going to see how yours hold up.

Showing peaple that you dont need a million hp just to have fun and come back to the simple way of just riding a great simple bike without all the gadjets you dont really need! So here is my question: What did you think of the fit and finish and quality of Royal Enfields own bags both the hard alluminium and the soft army style bags? You made a good choice for sure. Lomo and Wolfman are my two ~final~ picks, but the wife likes the RE boxes, so we are still considering which way to go. I've found that shipping from India is usually pretty fast and stuff from Germany and England are taking a looooong time. S PS: David Attenborough has nothing to worry about.

I bought mine and rails from a RE dealer in New Delhi. I was able to WhatsApp him and he gave me a price that was without the eBay fee and included shipping. so I paypal'd him. I received the package in 9 days....His communication and service was excellent.

Wow, you’ve done it again, a few months ago I was set to trade in my Triumph Tiger1050 for a bike better suited for green lanes and small poor quality country roads, top of my list a KTM390 adv, I also test drove a CB500x, just about to sort the finances out and your videos start popping up on my feed, I watched one, then two, then the rest of your Himalayan vids, then other contributors talking about the Royal Enfield, and before I knew it I’ve been talked around 360 degrees and will be picking my RE Himalayan 2021 graphite black tomorrow midday 🤦‍♂️, and to top this, I had planned purchasing the full pannier set, I am a keen camper so really need a good pannier system to accommodate my hot tent and bushcraft gear, again you have influenced me with straight talking common sense and I’ve changed tack again, I’ve just ordered the Lomo set up, it’s going to be a lot lighter and flexible for my needs so makes perfect sense, plus having bashed up panniers wouldn’t go down well when I of course I eventually go down…..really good job with your vids, you speak real sense, with humour and so naturally, good work sir…..wondering what else your gonna sell me soon 😬😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Good choice. How about the right Lomo soft pannier and exhaust heat?

Is it has enough clearance between the panier and the exhaust? Considering it could melt if your exhaust getting hot and touch your panier for a long time.

Any issue with heat of the exhaust pipe on the bottom of the side bags? I noticed on my wife 2022 Himalayan that the tip of the exhaust is quite close to sideracks

Ronin your Himalayan is looking good I really want to take one for a test drive because i am a bigger guy 310 lbs I am concerned if it will do what i would like it to do I have never been off road and would like to get into adv biking and moto camping just need to get my ducks in a row I would hate to spend 5 grand on something that i would be disappointed in looking forward to following your adventures.
