Your comment brings to mind. The opportunity of focusing on the tangible sensory experience. Creates a quality alternative to the masses

Hehehe, for awesome Zeppelin fantasies, I recommend the webcomic Girl Genius, a steampunk fantasy adventure with a touch of romance (eponymous characters has several would-be suitors). I recall a double-spread image of a fleet of massive Zeppelins... Fabulous story with grrrreat characters, and humour.

Everybody especially in position of power definitely 💯 has a choice of what to sell, how to sell, what to promise and all that. But they’re making a choice for greed not choice for integrity.
@divinenonbinary
@divinenonbinary 2 месяца назад
You don’t have a choice abt clickbait specifically because all the powerful ones decided how it’s all gonna be run. But you do have a choice on whether to chase those clicks or not. Wether to adapt to their systems or create new (restore old) ones
@divinenonbinary
@divinenonbinary 2 месяца назад
It’s you who chooses to see all the people who do watch quality videos as “nobody”. You’re using everyone else’s number of subs and views to judge your own situation. So you choose to chase the clickbait ers instead of sticking with the values you claim to prefer
@driesketels
@driesketels 2 месяца назад
What do you mean with "you do have a choice on whether to chase those clicks or not"? If you choose to not chase the clicks you don't get views, you can't sell product, you don't get money and slowly starve to death because you can't afford food. Technically speaking I do believe this is considered to be a choice indeed.

reminds me of a guy who wrote a book on Native Americans when the first settlers arrived. They were one with nature till a few tribes got their hands on European technology (Hatchets, Horse saddles, riffles) then it became a fight for these technologies. They had no choice. WWI started for a similar reason (Germans feeling trapped between 2 enemies)

@driesketels Dan Flores "Coyote America". As the story goes, The Native Americans were unwilling to trade with the new settlers. So a new settler in the area asks a veteran how to trade with the Natives. He goes " that's easy, watch this". The guy then hangs an axe from a tree and they leave. When the come back a few weeks later, a large group of Native Americans had gathered to the area hoping to trade anything and everything to the owners of the Axe. Steel was such a game changer that the Native Americans had no choice but to seek out this new tech. (Native Americans had not yet heard of steel). So with this "free sample" from the European settlers, they got the Natives hooked on something they could not refuse. Of course later they would trade for Riffles and other steel tools as well. Sound like a familiar strategy?

Oldest strategy in the book. Give the people what they want most and you'll be surprised what the world gives back.

Wow, that's actually fairly deep philosphical stuff! Interesting to hear such opinions that are refreshingly contrary to the mainstream expectations about AI. That's a cool direction into which this channel leaned lately! 👍

I think this video kind of misses the point. What even actually is AI? Does anyone know what AI is anymore? It used to be what we called math calculators that do physics and stuff. What does "AI" even mean anymore? OpenAI killed science. Everything was going fine.

@@kevinsedwardsmy qualifications that you need to know about are that I have a brain capable of discerning nonsense from sense. Here are some of the logical fallacies present in the video: 1. Hasty Generalization: - Claim: "AI companies are all lying about their capabilities and are just scamming us." - Fallacy: Generalizing the behavior of all AI companies based on specific examples without sufficient evidence. 2. False Dichotomy: - Claim: "There is no such thing as an AI future; it's either a scam or the biggest evolution ever." - Fallacy: Presenting only two extreme options and ignoring the possibility of a nuanced middle ground where AI has both significant advancements and limitations. 3. Appeal to Emotion: - Claim: "Companies are stealing our content and charging us exorbitant fees; they're the villains." - Fallacy: Using emotionally charged language to invoke fear and anger, which can bias the viewer against these companies without a balanced view. 4. Slippery Slope: - Claim: "If we believe in AI progress, we will end up in a dystopian future where everything is controlled by AI." - Fallacy: Suggesting that one action will inevitably lead to an extreme and undesirable outcome without providing evidence for such a progression. 5. Straw Man: - Claim: "The internet is just a lesser version of a library with lower quality information." - Fallacy: Misrepresenting the value and purpose of the internet by comparing it unfavorably to libraries, ignoring the vast and diverse benefits the internet offers. 6. Red Herring: - Claim: "Elon Musk's promises about laser wind wipers on the Cybertruck." - Fallacy: Introducing an irrelevant detail to distract from the main argument about AI and technological progress. 7. Anecdotal Evidence: - Claim: "The Mechanical Turk was a hoax, so modern AI must also be a scam." - Fallacy: Using a single historical example to generalize about the authenticity of all modern AI technologies. 8. Ad Hominem: - Claim: Implying that tech leaders and companies are inherently deceitful and only interested in profits. - Fallacy: Attacking the character and motives of individuals rather than addressing the validity of their technological contributions. 9. Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc: - Claim: "Because AI shops are currently using human labor, all AI advancements are fake." - Fallacy: Assuming that because one instance of AI is not fully automated, it means all AI developments are similarly deceptive. 10. Appeal to Tradition: - Claim: "Progress isn't real because the best invention of the 21st century is the internet, which is just a lesser version of a library." - Fallacy: Suggesting that traditional methods (like libraries) are inherently superior to modern innovations without objectively evaluating their respective merits. Conclusion The speaker employs several logical fallacies to bolster his argument, which undermines the overall credibility of his claims. While there are few kernels of truth in his points, the use of these fallacies means that his argument should be critically evaluated rather than accepted at face value and is therefore utter nonsense. Period. Full stop. Mic drop.
