"With great power comes great responsibility." As a breeder/owner/purveyor of Dwarves and Super Dwarves, it is critical to the continued success of selectively breeding for size, that certain guidelines be followed. Basically, if you want super dwarves to be a thing, you got to follow the rules that make it a thing. Garrett explains these rules comprehensively in today's episode.

The same "do not guess" rules apply to the morelia world too. Well put

As someone who loves carpet pythons, I think morelia and retics have a lot in common, including the culture of keepers. Retics have a lot more morphs though!

So... what are you Garret? 98,43% human Sapient or possible 96,875% As you have "white skin" a ancestor of yours did "crossbread" with a Neanderthal and their child (also an ancestor of yours) was 50%/50% Only people (with very dark colored skin) who´s ancestors live south of the Sahara till 1880 at least have no Neanderthal (nor Denisovan) genes.

Is ternate or halmahera not considered dwarf? Even tho I know you have a halamahera from rodney. Not to mention the hundreds of other islands out there that have genetically small retics? Why do you get to make the rules on what is dwarf and super dwarf? "The powers at be which were not me at the time" seems like you feel that you are king of dwarfs and super dwarfs. Well long live the king cuz you are about to be dethroned I won't say by who but you'll know when it happens.

In livestock, we often use "pure blood" to mean 100 %, never been out crossed and "full blood" to mean at least 5 generations of not being out crossed. I think that needs to be brought to other types of animals.

Hi, I just found your page from your participation in the Snake Discovery enclosure build off. :-) I am enjoying the content in many of your videos! I am just having one problem because I have sensory processing disorder. It is difficult for my neurodiverse brain to "hear" your words over the music & "stick" with the video until the music stops (if it does). The sensory overload is real! Subtitles or a notation as to when the music stops would help. ❤

It's hard to beat a wild type in my opinion, those 100% SD crosses are awesome. Hopefully I can get one for myself someday. Thanks for the great video.

My resurrected breeding operation is going to try to stay focused on wild type, except corns and balls, pretty much. I adopted the tagline "We're the wild type" - just sayin' this is a wonderful path. I'm comin' for ya Garrett ;) To give you a bunch of money, that is.

I've kept reptiles since I was a wee lad (1983) and I've bred them since 1992, off and on. This is spectacular advice. If you're new to the game, listen to Garrett, he's a real smart boy. I think real SD retics are our next thing, once I have the carpet python colony set up. I'm on your Karompa waiting list, G.

100% sure Einstein never said anything like that. Sounds more like some cheesy motivational speaker, but on the Internet, every quote is either Einstein, Lincoln or maybe Churchill.
@ReachOutReptiles

You may be right. But can you ever REALLY be 100% sure? I mean, I could see 50%, 75%, maybe 87.5%... but is it really possible to get all the way to 100%?? ;)

He's right I kind of did the math just to prove it and it takes 43 generations of reading to get 99.9999999999% pure and the other small percentage is mainland. I kind of thought that eventually you could reach 100%, but apparently that is impossible after 43 generations if you add that number to 100 and divide by two it just keeps repeating itself
