Great video guys. Really good info for a new keeper but I was really impressed with the cuts, location changes and b-roll. Thomas is killing it on the editing!

The whole "pretty lady walking into the room" is a great analogy. My 6 year old male retic just gets kind of nervous or anxious during breeding season, which lines right up with that analogy. He also arches his back all weird in his cage and moves around more during breeding season. But even that is something human males do around girls too haha. But yeah its not like they totally become aggressive out of the blue. Just a little less rational, a lot like us guys do lol.

The fact you guys are only at 6k while Wickens wicked "bundle of sticks and 6 leopard geckos" is at the sub rate he's at is criminal. Keep up the good work guys

My males temperament never seems to change. Even while breeding they are just as chill as ever.

I think that’s actually pretty typical on an animal you’ve grown up and have a relationship with.

I'm moving soon & my room will be tripling in size, I can finally own a super dwarf with tons of room to spare for myself & my other snakes. It'll definitely be a bit before I buy the animal (gotta save) but I'm looking forward to getting one, you releasing this video made my day a little better! The information is much needed 😌 Ty & keep up the great work 👍

Great video, Garrett. Also, I wrote letters to my governor and senator about the frustrations on the ban of keeping reticulated pythons in New York, and my feeling that the ban should not include dwarf or super dwarf retics due to their smaller size. I mentioned you and your company in my letters as well. I feel that licenses and registering these snakes with the authorities is a better way of controlling and ensuring responsible owners can keep these beautiful animals rather than banning them outright. I also find the bans rather pointless in northern states like New York due to the fact that a retic of any size would not survive a winter in the state if it escaped due to how cold the winters get here.
@alexcrowder1673
@alexcrowder1673 Год назад
Hopefully they will listen to logic. You've made a really solid argument though thats for sure! The ONLY problem i see is the unpredictable adult sizes of any snakes with any mainland blood. So maybe to register them they probably would have to be over a certain percentage of SD blood. You MIGHT even have to do some sort of genetic verification of certain genes pertaining to size. Genetic testing of reptiles is actually just now taking off. So i could see it as an option for this sort of thing in the very near future.

@alexcrowder1673 Год назад
Btw, Timor pythons are very VERY similar to superdwarf retics. They are also legal in new york, because they are technically their own species, unlike SD retics. Have you looked into those at all? Obviously you can still keep pushing for SD retics in new york, but its still a valid alternative that you could keep even now. Their personality is even super similar. Both are very very smart and curious compared to other pythons.

Really love this video. I happen to think that if I were to get a pet of any species I would take it into consideration that females could get egg bound if not bred . With the super dwarf reticulated python’s, I would definitely get a male as a pet. Great video and Tonya is stunningly beautiful. Very informative.

Wow finally a video on the topic no one explains! Thank you!! I’ve been wanting a SD retic as a pet for a while now but can never find a good video on this specific topic. Of course, leave it to the guy I want to buy a retic from, to make the video I needed to watch :) Heard it from the man himself.

So what you're telling me is that I want a male. I've got a Burm that's gonna take up most of my room so a smaller male would be better for me. Definitely gonna look into one in the future.

I saw a hermaphroditic Ball python one time. It was over 5ft, and probed as a female. So they kept it with another female until it apparently fathered a clutch with said female and then they seperated them. I suppose you could call it a male, as i doubt its female reproductive organs were functional, but it certainly wasnt a normal male. Anyways, just thought i'd share. I would imagine something similar is possible in retics as well. Has anyone here ever seen such a thing in other snake species?

Hi Garrett. You mentioned about females cycling in your video and I was wondering if my girl could be at the moment? I live in the uk. My little madu is out with me every day and she is so calm and inquisitive. But the last week or so when I get her out she is in food mode as if a rat was under her nose. Not really a problem she soon snaps out of it. Just a bit out of character for her. Could this be the seasonal cycle you spoke of? Really interested to find out now… thanks 😊

@@ReachOutReptiles Great. Wildtypes are my favorite. (they are the most beautiful) But first I need to get Saskatchewan to legalize them and figure out how to legally get them into Canada.

I forget which channel I was watching, he pretends to have a twin brother called Kurt's corner to be quirky and his channel is about ball pythons. He had a video about his superdwarf that he was breeding, and he took it out of the tub he was breeding in and out him back in his tank and he started throwing himself at the sides of the tank, seemingly having a temper tantrum because he wanted to stay in with the female. I thought that was pretty interesting. It does make sense that the males would react only when it comes to being around other females. Also great point with the egg laying, all in all it seems like males are all around better to have! Edit : oh hahaha that's so funny, green room pythons is below my comment! That's the channel I was talking about!

Garrett what about th fact that males tend to rub more than females?? I dont have the experience with retics but ive heard it time and time again, roserub is more prevelant in males. I do have experience with boas, and i can say this is definitely the case with them. Not to say its normal, but when it does happen its more often a male
@ReachOutReptiles

I see this in breeding males, after separation from breeding with females, or when kept in rooms with ovulating females. I haven’t seen it in pet animals with only one or a few males kept in a home.

I think it would have been worthy to note that females RARELY produce eggs without a male. The way you described it comes off as there is a 100% chance they will lay infertile eggs every year if not paired with a male.

It's 2023, snakes can identify what ever gender they want. Usually ssssss use sssss/sssss and sssss uses sssss/sssss pronouns. Also, the pay gap between ssssss and ssssss is very inequality, ssssss should cost the same regardless. Very triggering and problematic video.
