Everyone seems to have stiffness, soreness, and tightness at the base of the neck nowadays. Some call it “Tech Neck” or “Text Neck” but if neck and shoulder pain hangs around, chronically, even after massage or exercise there’s a good chance there are some vertebrae stuck down where your neck meets your shoulders.
So much of it is avoidable though! So, in this video we check out the mechanics of what happens in this condition and the four common causes.

I'm a IT guy always using the laptop for long hours and developed forward head posture . To correct this u can use a laptop stand to elevate your screen to eye level. and make sure u get the right one, that lifts up the whole laptop and supports it strongly..
@BodyFixExercises
@BodyFixExercises 2 года назад
Yes there are a few options you can use nowadays to lift your screen... A laptop stand. Plug in a separate, raised screen. Or raise the laptop screen and use a wireless keyboard. Whatever works for you.

I have been to multiple physios after noticing the beginning of a hump, and I've never had it explained as well or as simply as you just did. Love your videos. One quick question: when sitting on a chair and trying to maintain good posture, your lower back is is pushed to the back of the chair, but should your upper back lean back against the chair, or be propped up by itself so only your lower back is in contact with the back of the chair?
@BodyFixExercises
@BodyFixExercises Год назад
Good question. It depends on the chair actually. Often if the lumbar support is good, your mid back doesn't need to touch the chair. But don't stress if it does, or if it feels more comfortable that way

I had laser neck surgery and cervical ryzothomies in Florida back in August 2023. Since this surgery I developed a dropped head that I never had before. The neurosurgeon burned my paraspinal muscles and have developed neck extensor muscles weakness in a instant. I have been exercising, stretching those muscles for 2 and half months since but still have stiff neck and can't raise my head yet. It is very disappointing. Have you got any tips for me? Thank you. Dear Stefan, Can you suggest me some exercises to cure C4-C5 mild disc bulge. Its lockdown here & everything is closed.
@BodyFixExercises
@BodyFixExercises 3 года назад
Hey Viraj. Unfortunately the only thing that will cure a disc bulge is time. Just like a cut needs to heal, if the outer annular fibres of the disc get damaged and the disc bulges, it needs time to heal. We can't speed up that healing process. But keep in mind that about a third of the population has a mild disc bulges (more with age) so a mild disc bulge isn't necessarily the cause of pain. (We often assume it's the cause if a MRI shows a bulge, but more often than not mild bulges do not cause pain. Usually they cause more symptoms in the arm, hand and fingers.) Sorry I can't be of more help than that without examining your spine.

It certainly can cause neck stiffness, but the ones I mentioned are much more common nowadays, especially for forward head posture. (Due to mobile phones and laptops etc.). Poor sleeping posture trends to affect to to of the neck more, especially if you sleep face down.

@@BodyFixExercises I'd like to know where everyone is buying great pillows from these days then. I've bought so many, this year alone...and don't go cheap...while definitely not spending $300 per pillow as some have. The last pillow I purchased is a Ploom...and was $100. I almost hate it. Anyway...after spending lots of cash and hours online searching for the right pillow....do you have any suggestions? Tia
