Who is Dr. Ergin? Dr. Ahmet Ergin is an endocrinologist with a particular interest and passion for diabetes care. Dr. Ergin earned his medical degree with honors at Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. I get a sort of a hot flare up where I feel my ears and face get hot and red. I also become very anxious, almost like I had a cup of coffee, a too strong one. Not very pleasant, after that follows a headache. Also, wow, this channel is a godsend. I'm a med student so I love this kind of content and am prediabetic, possibly diabetic already, as is my father, so it's very nice to see a Dr. reach out to patients in need, free of charge. This channel is worth millions.

Very helpful video, in 2021 I started working at a factory (it was hot) I was peeing every hour and was always thirsty, once my vision blurred (had a soda + icecream) at lunch. At home I used my moms meter and hit 512, when to the local clinic, two IV’s later I was down to 225. Next day I cut all sugar, two week later at work, my coworker told me My sugar levels are crashing (hand tremors, irritated, spacing out like a zombie, nurse checked, my blood sugar was at 62, In the past two years I adjusted my diet, set alarms on my phone to check, mornings Im at 85-90.

During my most severe high blood sugar episode, I had 16 hours of continuous nausea. I finally felt better after I made myself eat my evening meal and took my Metformin. Fortunately, I did not vomit.

I'm supposedly pre diabetic but I've had 3 episodes where each one got progressively worse. I'm asleep and wake suddenly and immediately start punking. I'm alone in my room but can't call for help because I can't stay awake. I'm freezing because it was winter and I'd gotten sick all over my blankets. I stayed this way for 24hrs until I could find my phone, charge it and call for help. Worst experience ever!.. but

The trouble is, some of these symptoms may have other causes and so cannot be relied upon as indicators of high blood sugar. Only a blood test will indicate this beyond doubt.

I wanted to find out what are the symptoms of alarming high blood sugar- so high that an ambulance is needed. I thought I could find out on line. All I can find is the standard run of the mill symptoms.

what about water retention, trouble breathing or catching breath (pulmonary edema?), elevated heart rate, anxiety, and sudden claustrophobia feeling? A 'carboHYDRATE', carbon attached to H20 molecule, carries water volume. If you body is flooded with excess sugar molecules, then along with that would come excessive "volume" (water, sugar molecules etc). and that excessive feeling of 'volume' can cause all sorts of other issues (the obvious being blood pressure rise).. is this correct ?

I have uncontrolled diabetes even though I take metformin twice a day and check my blood sugar. Everytime i go to the doctor they ask if im checking my blood sugar but never ask to see my blood sugar log. And now that i have been diagnosed with breast cancer, im concerned about having uncontrolled diabetes

Today was day 4 of feeling weird. Shaky hands, very jittery. I have had a headache for the past 4 days. Nauseous now, feeling very very sleepy, blurry vision. I’m feeling VERY weird. I took my BG this morning (haven’t eaten since 8 pm) and it was 205. I don’t know what to think.

I had watched one random video yesterday about high blood sugar that appears in my feeds and i am worried because most if not all of the symptoms is actually happened and still happening to me. So i tried to watch again today and i found your video. And the same thing. At first i thought my ulcer or acid reflux and being bloated are the reason why i had nausea and vomiting and the pain in my stomach. I never thought they are one of the symptoms of high blood sugar.

Very helpful info....I went to Dr....blood sugar was over 400,...a1c was eleven...I've been having lot very heavy breathing,,after I walk not going away ..had few real bad headaches,,almost fell today,. I tried taking bus,,and carrying few bags groceries..I fell foward at my door...weighing in at 281. Could of caused that... Going low carb..sort of keto...keto in past kept a1c about 7....I like how you get info in video to us quick...

I don't have any of these symptoms but when I checked sugar randomly my sugar level was 239 after meal .So on the next day I checked again I got sgar level 118 fasting and 171 after meal .so should I take tablets or not plzz reply???

My endocrinologist has said that your sugar levels shouldn't go above 180 if you are dosing properly. Sometimes mine does go that high and if its that high and won't go down I will drink a lot of water or go on a quick jog for 10 minutes and it will go down. As for your fasting, that is a near perfect fasting blood sugar, shouldn't worry about that. I think your 171 is fine if its right after a meal. If its more than 2 or 3 hours then you should try doing exercise or use a correction on your next meal to compensate for your high blood sugar.

Talk to your doctor. You may need to go on Metformin. Cut out the sugar in your diet and cut way back on carbs.

Good to know this but what do you do if these are happening and how long if in ketosis? Go to hospital when? Seems immediate solution is not discussed other than check blood sugar. Don't these indicate it is too high?

You can, but be wary of it falling too low. I would just go on a quick jog or drink lots of water if its that high.

@@elinmansson5535 doesn’t always help.. I had spiked levels all the time on keto and low carb for over 10 years.. I was over fasting and not eating enough.. once I added a little carb and stopped fasting my bgl started coming down ..

What about body temperature fluctuations? Someone I know is highly diabetic, has come out of Covid ICU recently and is on insulin and steroids with high FBS and PPBS with excess and frequent urination. But the baffling part is the periodic low grade persistent fever in the evenings only. 😑 What could it be due to?

What can I do about the urination? These excessive highs are new for me. Usually it's been between 6.9 and the absolute highest was once 8.2. This month, it's 12.1! I'm afraid my doctor is going to recommend insulin if I test high again in March. I'm not in pain and don't have any of the other symptoms except for urination and thirst. We did labs on everything this month (cholesterol, protein in urine, kidneys function, electrolytes, etc) everything was normal. My doctor is fixated on me losing weight. I've made changes but that's long term. How can I stop peeing so much and break the excessive highs now??

Best wishes to you I. You need a diabetic nutritionist to step in. Eat cereal for breakfast, grilled chicken salad for lunch. No French fries or soda and absolutely no cranberry juice or orange juice.

My GLU levels vary but in general they have been inching up. I guess I go into the pre-D. Range but then I return to the 90s. One time my GLU was 108 before exercise then after exercise. It went to 128. then within 1hr it was in low 90s. I ask my internist and he had no answers. I fo take statins snd B. Blockers. Any suggestions? Thanks

IF you are prediabetic keep watching your diet as if you are already diabetic. That will prevent progression. Eat low GI foods, healthy fat, and keep calories low. Thank you for sharing. What about weight loss as well, I wake up with high sugar, thirst, nausea, some diarrhea every other day..I only take metformin... I did try basalglar but it left me feeling like my heart was racing..any feedback please!

That sounds like extremely high blood sugar. When I was diagnosed with type 1, I had lost 40 pounds in 2 months, extreme thirst, fatigue, and constant urination. You should get it checked out ASAP

@@davidescobar1625 Thanks I do have type 2 diabetes and I now take tresiba as well as metformin..but now my A1c is high, ugh!

@@davidescobar1625 Just some light walking, I had chemo for a year..so my energy comes and goes.. When I got covid recently I lost 40 pounds..so far tests reveal no cancer. I am eating 3 meals a day..it probably could use a tweak though. But the weight loss isn't budging right now, which is good. When I see it go down its like "Oh no".. my doctor's seem puzzled about it. Tests reveal early liver cirrhosis. I don't drink or smoke. All this weight loss has left me with low muscle tone, I've dropped a size too. Nothing seems firm any more all over.

@@mircas1964 gosh that all sounds terrible. I have type 1 diabetes so I'm not totally sure how that correlates with type 2. But it all sounds super rough, so sorry to hear about all that. I assume you have a blood glucose monitor if you can tell you're going low then?

Thank you I'm working on dealing with my own situation. I think I almost pulled myself completely out of diabetes I was pre-diabetic for a long time then when I had a really bad episode I put a screeching hold on all sugar and carbs for about 4 months I think I literally almost reversed this thing but sometimes I will go in and out of the extreme urination at night and I still got some blurry vision going on but I've never felt better ever since I really went keto and fought this thing because I know I've had it for absolute years but I didn't understand it at all. I thought diabetes was just for my mother and father-in-law I never dreamed it was for me because I wasn't heavy or anything like they were... okay now that you know my life story haha just kidding, thank you for educating people people need to slow down and really actually understand this I think it's pandemic and nobody knows they have it that's my opinion GBU

The MD is giving us tips to keep us alive. Who are the muppets that dislike that? My guess is they are the ones that will lose feet, suffer strokes and heart failure and go to their graves still whacking that dislike button.

What’s considered a low blood sugar and what’s considered a high blood sugar.

Medically low is below 70 mg/dl. High depends on the time you measure and whether you have diabetes or not

@@SugarMDs well I’m not a diabetic, but I do check my blood sugar. And I have lows of like 50-65 and then my highest has been around 230. I talked to my doctor about it, and she wasn’t concerned, but everyone else is, so I’m confused 😂

@Acclema if you are prediabetic / borderline, ask for medication and help to bring sugar back in control. Take it as early onset diabetes, and ask your doctor for help.
