Hi TGV... Great video as always. At the moment, my keeper is a Smiths Everest. I bought one used from a professor in the UK and just loved how comfortable it wears on the bracelet. Over four years ago my wife lost her job, and about a year or so later we were struggling to pay bills and such. I pawned all of my watch collection and hers and the Everest was the one I regretted getting rid of. When I started collecting again, the Everest was the first timepiece I bought for my collection. I am so grateful to have it back in my collection where it will stay.

There are three watches that I’d call Keeper watches of my collection: 1) Oris Artelier Complication - the frontman of my collection, a not everyday “dress-to-impress” kind of watch. 2) Seiko Samurai - unlike Oris I find it ideal for everyday. 3) Longines LungoMare - a quartz watch that has been with me for 15 years and still looks up to date.

Really great vid, TGV. Your grandfather's pocket watch is amazing! I absolutely loved hearing it ticking. Really beautiful movement. On to the subject at hand. My keepers would be my Sinn 104i, Sinn EZM3, Seiko SARB033, and Seiko SKX007, and the first watch that kicked off this crazy compulsion, my titanium Citizen Skyhawk AT Blue Angels edition. Cheers, Stephen

Interesting vid. My own 'keepers' begin with my Grandfathers 'Smiths' pocket watch (simple, basic, clean - works). After that is a watch gifted to me for my work in education by the owner of a Swiss made micro brand, 'Marine Chronometer'. The owner died a few years later so the 100 watches made by the brand won't increase, unfortunately (those in existence are all numbered and linked to the OP). At there age of 16 the guy who owned there gym I trained in lent me his Rolex Sub for 24 hours... then I worked by backside off and bought one when I was 17. Unfortunately, after many adventures and expeditions, the watch and I parted company somewhat painfully when I was 36 - and now I'm considering purchasing another.

Hi TGV, I've got no keepers in my collection. The only exception I would make, is for really sentimental pieces. Like your grandfather's watch for example. If I really need money for vital things I would sell all of my watches. But for now, I would keep my first watch ever, an old Timex, maybe my first automatic watch, a Tissot PR100, and maybe the last watch my father owned, although it is only a cheap radio controlled watch from a super market. Best regards, Claus

At the moment I have two keepers. I've not been collecting for that long, so more may come in the future :) First of course my Jaragar H057M - the watch that got me into watch collecting in the first place. That is something to remember, I think. Second is my Casio AQ230A-1 - I found this and got it instantly as my grandmother gave me one like this as a present back in 1987, so I'm kinda sentimental about this watch :) I do have a good feeling about a watch I'm saving up for at the moment that I think will become a keeper, a Tissot Couturier. It will be my first luxury watch so I think it's destined for the keeper status :)

My inherited Omega 266 from 1954. My 1939 Kirovskie watch made in the first Moscow watch factory. My 1970s Seagull st5 because of its history and it's beautiful engraved movement I just need to find a see through caseback for it. My 4r39a Seiko given to me by my family 3 years ago. My Vostok Amphibia black scuba dude in the 710 ministry cushion case on its original bracelet. My tough go anywhere watch. But my special special watch bought by me for me because its beautiful. The wonderful Seagull Ocean Star. A gold star watch indeed. Oh and my 2 Shanghai Diamond wind up alarm clocks. My home would not be complete without their calming ticking.

I traded a 90s vintage DateJust for no-date Submariner. I do not think I will ever do that again. I am in search of the traditional ICONIC watches: MOTM, Subby, Navitimer, Cartier Tank, and now the Sunburst Squale (I need to trade the brushed stainless in). Medium term, I am searching for Tudor and Meistersinger. My grail is a AP. As I wait, I bought a Sistem 51 (thank you Federico) and Vostok. I cannot decide on a G-Shock.

My keeper is not worth much monetarily, but is worth a lot to me sentimentally. A mid 90s Citizen Promaster Quartz. Very rough shape, but keeps terrific time. It handled the rigors of the maritime environment perfecfly and traveled the world while I served the US Navy. I wear it quite a bit to this day.

Keepers in my collection are watches I got as a present. They will never leave, no matter what. Other keepers are the watches I bought to commemorate an event in my life (no matter how cheap or expensive they are). In my family it's a tradition to buy a watch when one passes a exam for example or win some kinda competition, did something for the first time, when someone dies that's dear to the heart. So almost everything is a keeper. I have a few watches I try to swap with people to get something "new".

never too late to comment, right? i personally do not have my own keeper watch yet.. slight correction.. i have not personally gone out to purchase a watch yet that is a keeper. however, i do have 2 watches that has been passed down to me after my father's passing that I shall always keep. One is a 1967 Rolex Oyster Precision 6426 which he always wore. I have cleaned up the watch and only polished the crystal to rejuvenate it for usr again on my wrist. The other watch is a 1976 Vacheron Constantin Patrimony in white gold. I believe it was a watch purchased for his wedding to my mom. That has to stay. Would like to get it serviced before trying to start up and see if it is working.

Fantastic content as always TGV! At the moment, I only really have two keeper watches. One is my Hamilton Khaki Automatic 42 mm (my first mechanical watch) , and the other is my father's 1991 TAG Heuer formula 1. The latter is the watch that sparked my love for watches in the first place. As my 18th birthday is coming up in May, I've been saving for something special to add to my keeper list... Nice collection TGV. I have several keeper watches. In automatics I have two Seiko 5's as they were my first automatic watches. I also have an Orient 3 star automatic which I wear the most because of its accuracy which is amazing and totally reliable and has a wonderful kind of sunburst gold colour dial with a brownish outer ring on the dial which really blends into the gold colour. I took the bracelet off and put a nice light tan leather strap with a gold buckle on it. Two other Orient watches I have are from the JDM which are the Solar Panda watches. Also in my collection are several solar quartz watches which include Citizen eco drives and Seiko solar watches. I also have several Casio watches two being diver watches and a couple of wave ceptors and a Casio Edifice solar chronographs. Also in my collection are two Invicta Pro Divers which are really incredible for the price.A really wide range of watches really which I regularly rotate.

I just bought the Marathon TSAR from Long Island Watch and I'm thoroughly excited for it to arrive. I've gone through 3 G Shock watches during my time in the Army. Interesting how you talk about being a little too young for certain watch styles. About 10 years ago I sold a sub after wearing it for about a dozen years. I got tired of seeing Rolexs worn by all the old men in Florida. I felt the style was getting dated and made me look older and dated as well. I was in my mid 40s at the time. Sold it. Mid live crisis and all that. Lol. Thinking of getting a classic Explorer now or GMT. I like the 24 hour bezel and 24 hour. Good luck. I enjoy your channel. I may have to dig out my collection and share some pics. 1940s Dienstuhr was a collecting point for a time. They have been but away for the last 10 or so years. 👍👍 Cheers!

Just bought my Marathon from your buddy at Long Island Watch Co. I watched this video when it came out and ever since then Marathon has been in the back of my head. I got a job in Aerospace for a US Gov Contractor and ive been a fan of the dial with the "US Government" print on the dial and with the project im working on being introduced to the public this week I decided to celebrate it with this watch to forever be reminded of this special event. I can't wait to have this, hopefully it will be here for the rollout so I can wear it on that occasion. So stoked to finally of pulling the trigger.

All my watches are keeper watches unless I give them away as gifts. I still have my first watch.( a Hamilton from force 1956, the Benrus that I wore while in the Army (infantry) 1967-69, 1971, and the Elgin from after I got out of the Army ). And, it continues from there.

I should say... two automatic Timexes that started it all. Two decadent- looking square 1990s Fossil watches on lush leather straps. A Danish Skagen piece. But... if I were a one watch guy or could keep one watch only, it would be the Casio „Duro“. The watch I am most comfortable with.

also on a different matter entirely and I dont mean to be a muck raker on this but I think Archy is gunning for you now, as some of the comments he made in his latest video, the delcares war one. done in his usual blow out your eardrum and swear like someone stabbed you in the balls tone seem to be pointed at you. although he goes in moods and swings all the time, so give it three weeks and a few more personal disasters and this should blow over if the blowback comes back towards you in any shape or form. hmph and how incredible is it that this is the man I turned to to learn how to switch out my watch bands and learn what my great grandmothers clock was, and I felt sorry enough to give him 10 bucks, and then he turns on a dime at everyone near him. Jeager Le coultre, just Jeager Atmos, complete with the original box FYI, my only real Haute Horology piece myself, like I couldnt Bloody believe it, that has been sitting behind me for 20 some years?! thank christ I broke the other one and not this one by accident with a baseball bat when I was a kid!

My small Dugena which i got from my father wenn I was about 12 and my Skx007 which I got from him for Christmas. For me its purely about personal value of pieces and their meaning to me. Watches that have been there at special moments of my life, watches which make me remember those moments.

i agree on the special moments. i think many of these collectors are young and have not reached the sentimentality stage yet. sometimes it is not about the watch per say, but about the life experiences you had with the watch. then, when a person buys you one and dies, after many many years it begins to mean more and more. also, watches you inherit. i have a 1950 bulova my father wore when he was 26 years old and he has been dead as long. thats a keeper watch. cannot compare this to a squale on a nato strap. lol

Your opening of the video in the woods, reminds me of Thomgxx100's way of making videos. Was that inspired by him or did you not think about it?

Excellent collection, I wonder why you prefer the Squale over the Tudor Heritage Black Bay, if the Marathon displaces the Squale would you consider the Black Bay or perhaps the Pelagos to fill it's slot?
@theurbangentry

+Weaving Spiders Come Not Here Interesting point, I guess we will have to see. I might just get a black bay, however it fit a bit chunky for my tiny wrist. I may borrow one for a duel. Best regards, TGV

Oh no TGV, you've done it again. Marathon is going to have a spike in sales. I was already looking into these two exact models of divers and was trying to decide which to get. So now I'm looking forward to the review! This addiction is expensive haha! I just got the 1521 which I'm in love with and is definitely a keeper of mine too.

+chavo8891 So glad to hear about your Squale, Marathon make so many amazing products, its a real pleasure to try and help them get the attention they deserve. Whichever Marathon you get you will not regret it. VERY impressed so far. Outstanding quality. Thanks for the comment. Best regards, TGV

I've always thought that it was a misfortune that pocket watches went out of fashion. I wonder do you have a Grandfather clock standing 💂 in the hallway.

While I have posted this on many of your Videos, here it is again: Today I purchased my 41mm GSAR Marathon TimePiece. I just attempted to Cancel my order for the 41mm. Once it goes through I will order the 36mm Size. I just hope it isn't too small. I love my 38mm Timepieces. Is 1mm per side that big of a difference? My 41mm has been cancelled and my 36mm has been ordered. If it is too small I'll just return it. But comparing it to my German Made Aristo 38mm, I think I'll be happy with the 36mm Marathon. Please, wish me your best. I am so confused. Just like being in a high speed spin and generating too many Gs. I'm happy to have pulled out of the spin successfully. I went back to the 41mm because I noticed the 36mm wears an 18mm strap and that is just too narrow for me. I guess, God did want me to get the 41mm after all.
