You should go visit there at least once, especially all the wealthy places because everyone in India is wealthy and has higher standards than those in Finland and the West. Yes, children are very happy in India. But what do you expect from a country that always looks out for its own people?

Most Western countries have individualist cultures. It is inappropriate to approach people you do not know. It has nothing to do with happiness or wellbeing, it's just the way the culture is

I think if you got to know them you would find them happy….at least in summer.

@la-lb3oo, I was in India, in Mumbai, Gujarat and most of the time in Rajasthan, with my son in India for three weeks during the Winter 2021-2022. Naturally that tourist trip didn't make me a specialist of India, but I still think, that the placing of India was far too low in this survey. Probably the huge amount of people and a heavy pollution have been lowering the position of India.

This. Taiwan is in no way controlled by China. They have NO administrative power there at all. As the above said, it's an independent country. China might not like it but that's the facts on the ground there.

The Chinese Government claims Taiwan as their own so It is regarded a part of China, and can also be considered as a sovereign state.

@somaiyanstudent3880, when me and my sone were in India for three weeks in the Winter 20221-2022, we spent the first week in Mumbai. And that part of the trip was very successful, the air was not too hot and there was pretty little pollution (great many junk yards, though). As a Finn I could live well in Mumbai (at least during the cold period), but certainly not in Delhi. Udaipur was a charming city, and naturally we had to see Tadz Mahal in Agra. To a person, who knows pretty much about the old Indian cultures like me, this trip was an uplifiting experience.

I am surprised someone would be surprised about this. It is one of the most overworked countries in the world and still has a lot of issues with sexism, racism and homophobia. Their culture is heavily stoic and drug laws are remarkably harsh compared with the rest of the world but alcoholism is commonplace. Mental health infrastructure is pretty poor too. Plus rampant social anxiety and a culture that prioritizes work over all other things means no one wants to have kids. There is major social pressure for women to be skinny (like unhealthily skinny) despite heavily processed foods being rampant across the country. I would be surprised to see it in the top 25.

I think a really efficient oppressive military presence is a more apt way to describe it. "Defence" implies you are under some kind of siege. Its more of a slow Genocide of the Palestinian people.
