Thank you so much about doing a segment on Calgary. It's where we live. I do know we have our imperfections, but I also know we are a terrific City the people who care about each other. I just want to say thank you very much
long long time resident of the NE and i can tell you without a doubt that this area is hidden gem. we have undervalued homes with huge lot sizes. The majority of the areas have easy access to the major roads and to downtown. Our commute times are a fraction of other areas. Many shopping districts in the NE. We have a diversified population which makes for many ethnic restaurants and for a more interesting place to live. Crime is not any worse than any other part of the city, it's only the media that likes to unfairly pick on the NE.
Hey man! Thanks for the Calgary based videos. I have recently accepted Alberta's nomination in the PNP program. With considering Alberta to be my next home, your video are providing ample knowledge about what to do once you get there. ❤️
Hello.. glad to read your experience.. I am also planning to apply for Alberta' PNP.. can I have your email so as to seek for some enquiries from you... ? Cheers
Flying out for a 4 day long weekend over Canada day from Toronto to look at houses and hopefully put an offer down on one in Calgary so this video came at the perfect time.
Thanks Frank for this video. I am actually just researching in all the neighbourhoods and was having difficulties. Moving my family of 4 there possibly :)
Thanks Mario - it's my opinion, but if you want opportunities in all areas I'd choose Toronto; however, if you're at the stage in life when you're ready to settle, enjoy the outdoors, and care more for affordability I'd choose Calgary. Best of luck in your decision.
SE is massive. Plus you have 17 Ave SE International Avenue. You need to properly visit the SE. Best views of the mountains are in the SE- Just look at the communities just east of the Bow River. Raddison, Douglasdale, McKenzie, Mountain Park, Cranston- etc you can see the whole Alberta Rockies. Then you have the old communities with massive homes and lots and lakes- Lake Bonavista, Sundance, Lake Bonaventure, Midnapore, Parkland, Willow Park, Maple Ridge, Deer Run, Mahogany, Ramsay, Quarry Park and the new community of Seton in the SE (nothing else in Calgary that looks like Seton). Then the golf courses there. Massive Park- Fish Creek Park. South Centre Mall and other centres and shopping areas. SE can't be beat. You can also hit the mountains via Highway 22 to go to Kananaskis, and the BC Rockies. it is also the warmest and gets the least hail storm. The other Quadrants do not even compare.
I used to live in Meadowlark Park, near Chinook Shopping Center. I moved to the West Coast 52 years ago and I never looked back. I learned to dislike Calgary when I worked for the city in the 1960s. I was across the street from City Hall. Rod Sykes was the Mayor.
ive been living in the southeast for well over 10 years now and i havent had a problem with "smells", i can tell you right now that cranston, auburn bay, mahogany, or seton are great places to be living because they are super far away from the industrial part of the southeast and seton happens to be getting built to be a "second downtown"
Hey man! Thank you for great video. Helped me a lot to make a better decision for moving. Can you make a video about towns around Calgary please? Thanks!
I have been looking for commentaries on the different quadrants. Very helpful and insightful. So you made the move from Toronto without regrets? I'd like to find an area in Calgary similar to beautiful Mississauga!
I live in Calgary for a year and a half , now i am in Mississauga . I find it very safe to live in Calgary doesn't matter which area at all . I would love to live in Calgary , if there are more jobs available like in GTA .
@@WorldTraveller0001 That is great news , i love to live in Calgary for housing affordability and they have the most sunny days in Canada . It is good to hear Calgary is diversify there economy .
WOW Most of the areas that actually named are pretty much downtown ! Including Bridgeland, Kensington, Mount Royal, Mission, and Inglewood ! You really never mentioned anything about the other 100+ communities ! I give this a score of 3 outta 10
Watching this man going like. shit I swear I've seen this face before.... LOL Then it hit me, we worked together back in the Ryerson days at the computer lab. Guess I'll be moving to Calgary too. Grats on your success with the youtube channel :D
Winters in Calgary are brutal! Main difference is in Toronto you get chilled to the bone but in Calgary once you walk in the door you are warm immediately. There is zero humidity here. The snow fall is about the same.
Weather fluctuates a lot! That said - summer don’t get extremely too hot. Winters can start as early as end of September; however, they have “chinook” winds that will make random weeks in Jan/Feb as high as +10 at times.
I’ve lived in the north east for 8 years and definitely agree there is a ton of crime only just moved away seems lots of vandalism other then that not a bad area
Thanks for the video mate💪Appreciate your recommendation🙂. However, I live in Vancouver and willing to come to calgary. Do you think is it a better place for doing businesses?
Hi Frank, I'd be really interested to hear your views on the Calgary winters as compared to TO. We live in Ottawa and we're considering moving to Calgary, but the long cold winters make us think twice - it seems like a big step in the wrong direction. Ottawa winters are also cold (and humid) but they are not that long - basically only Dec to April.
Been to Ottawa & lived there long enough. Ottawa's winter climate is by no means any better than Calgary's. The winter can be a little long in Calgary (could start in November till April). However you get a break from warm winds from the mountains once every or every other week so it isn't that bad. Calgary does sometimes get extreme winter weather but Ottawa also has its fair share of -40c.
He mentions the SE but only talks about the industrial section and Inglewood. Really? Something like 130,000 live in the SE and many of those neighbourhoods are perfect for every walk of life. McKenzie Towne, Auburn Bay, Cranston etc..... Not only that but the city's biggest hospital is there and more amenities than you can shake a stick at. I get it's a short video, but do your research, man!
@@FrankHuynh All good. Just wanted people to be aware that truly every quadrant has loads of places live. Having lived here for almost 50 years there isn't a quadrant I wouldn't choose. That said, there are some communities that are a bit tough, or dated, or that lack more amenities than others, but quadrant to quadrant (and within each quadrant) there is a huge range of options to fit almost anyone's lifestyle.
Anything east of deerfoot trail from pegan trail north is isn't a good areas to live in. Anything foothills industrial park south of it southeast is a good areas too
Hey hey dude.. What is construction like out in Calgary? I work as a Project Manager in Toronto and considering a move. Is it all residential low rise or is there any high rise developments?
Residential Low Rise. A lot of developers got hit hard. The most expensive condo complex and tallest office tower in the city was completed right at the start of the plague. The old Encana (The Bow) building is basically empty.
I'm looking to move from Europe Germany, and I am looking to find someone that lived here and noe lives there so that I can ask question, like what is the infrastructure, internet, tech companies etcetx..im in Internet of Things myself and it is quite odd that I cant even find job openings for anything similar. What are also other coties you can reach by car with an hour or two max, so many questions but Im going through your videos slowly. I plan to visit for couple of weeks in March/April not sure yet.
Can you talk about the fact the Calgary practically has ZERO rats? It's something that (as far as I know) no other major city in the world has been able to accomplish.
I really am interested in listening to your video , but please please lose the background music. It makes it really difficult to concentrate. It feels like your yelling and I don't feel like I can actually pay attention .
@@FrankHuynh don't be sorry !! I just really am interested in all of these types of videos . We are looking at possibly looking at relocating. I just had such a hard time with the music playing at the same time !! Great info though !!
Inglewood has a prostitute issue and drugs. Not all, but most gang related crimes happen in the N.E. People don’t think of Bridgeland when they think of N.E. Calgary. North West has always been the most desirable quadrant.
