Diving in the strong river currents of the American River in Northern California, first dive of the year here, I am exploring the changes since last year.
It's crazy how the craters were worn into the boulders like that. It still blows my mind at all the rocks, stones and boulders you all have out there. Here in Florida, our rivers and lakes all for the most part have sandy or muddy bottoms. We also have a lot of alligators. Nice finds, thanks for the dive Mark. Love your videos, stay safe.
It's amazing how much gravel the miners washed down the river in the 1800's! I think the entire bed of the American is gravel! There is some sand on beaches, and at the junction of the Sacramento/American. Just amazing to me...the cool rocks in the river.
Bunch of lead? Detect it? Sure. But don't be surprised that you will find something better. Where there is gold the lead will also be found. They settle out the same in a waterway. Sorry it wasn't an "official" dive but still nice.
Hi Mark, I've been watching you for a long time now and love your videos. I was born and raised in Fair Oaks I have lived there since 1958. I'm a prospector and been wanting to see you use your water vehicle to blow away the sand from the rocky spots, there is a lot of gold left in the river even where you are in El manto park you've gone by the ancient river beds so many times. The spot where you found all that lead is where gold will fall out also. I hope you get a chance to do this !! Good luck out there and God bless you !
Funny thing… I once was metal detecting i those rocky spots near Fair Oaks and could not find a target that kept ringing off and finally I saw it, a small rock. I ended up just dropping it because I have no idea what it was. About six months later I learned what Gold looks like underwater… I had a nice size nugget, but didn’t know it.
I do have a video or two where I am fanning out those holes, I found some coins and some fishing sinkers using my scooter to blow out the holes is problematic, when I turn it on to blow away the sand it also pushes me away, does that make sense to you? Kind of like what happens when a astronaut pushes against something in space. There is no resistance to keep him from going the opposite direction.
I loved the dramatic landscapes, the fish, your eagle-eyed finds! I was waiting for that report on the current! Is it dangerous to let go & ride the current if it's so hard to swim against it?---Were you there on different days...different gloves!
And yes Two dives on two days same spot, I had a camera malfunction and was only carrying one at the time. I tore the patchwork gloves pulling them off.
That diamond looks like about a karat, and it's probably set in platinum or white gold. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you go by the jeweler's place. Not a whole lot of finds, but really high quality stuff. Congratulations. If the diamond is real it'll buy a whole bunch of SCUBA gear.
Good Afternoon Mark ! Sometimes less is more ! Did a fish get hooked right in front of you ? My son found a ring a few years back , I have a friend who deals in jewelry , turns out he bought it for 5 grand . Not bad I say ! Take care , great to see you again !
Thanks for the info… I had forgotten about it until your comment, so I tried to look them up on Amazon. There are several renditions of them, but all seem to be called evil eye, Medusa, or something and those lines. Definitely not something happy and fun lol.
In a river that was once know for gold you get a diamond. Good for you. Ok, the important questions, what kind of fish were those lurking about you? Are there no trout in that river?
I’ve been trying to sell my house….ugh such drama….so I’m behind on your videos. Congrats on the diamond earring Mark! You’ll have to let us know if it’s real or not once you get it checked by a jeweler. American River is always one of my favorite places you go.
Talk about a Diamond in the Ruff. To find any ear ring in a river, with a strong current like that is unreal. Sure glad its real, that will more than pay for your outing. Its beautiful down there, those div-its ( can't spell, 🙃) in the rocks w/ rocks (an other goodies ) in them looks so neat. So great you found a seat that matches your kayak, bet you are too ! Keep Cool ! PS. The Blue eyes are to ward off the Evil Eye, or to ward off any evil towards you ! :~)
@@mikehurricane5767 Hey Mike 😃 Hope your feeling better ! I think I got all your messages... Did you ask me something an I not reply ?? If I did, I'm sorry. I'm always Happy to hear from you 😊!
@@AFMR0420 you had me with that question, so I looked it up. The local indigenous people called it NO’TO-MON. During the Mexican rule, it was called RIO DE LOS AMERICANOS. A map from 1838 calls it, BUENAVENTURA RIVER. IN 1827, Mountain Man Jedidiah Smith believed the American and Sacramento river area were the ST. BONAVENTURA RIVER, and thus named the Sacramento Valley the, Valley of Bonaventure. Thanks for asking!

@@mokpot It is a beautiful country, you have to make good use of your time to explore everything and I recommend spring because in the south it will not be so cold and you can enjoy the landscapes and in the north it will not be so hot
