thanks for the free hardener. My old one is as yellow as dark pee. LOl. I don't want to throw it away still though. I may still want to purchase the resin half of the free hardener you sent me and I'll try and see where I can use the old one where yellow won't show. where did you get the mini cups with the little handles?

I guess it just depends on how yellow the resin is ... Bc when I tinted mine with blue, as imagined it turned green
@Artresin
@Artresin Год назад
yes, its always best to test it out first. When the clear resin is mixed into the yellowed hardener, it will diminish the effect of the yellow colour, and different tint colours will hide it better than others. Yellowed hardener is always a safe choice over a natural wood background as the colour will not be evident.

Great information! What about a piece of art that has white and clear in it. If it's close to a sunny window, after 5 years approx., while it yellow?
@Artresin
@Artresin 5 лет назад
Carla, It is hard to say for certain but with it being in the sunlight daily for 5 years I would think it's possible to show some signs of yellowing. With its advanced UV and Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers, ArtResin is chemically engineered to offer the best protection against yellowing on the market. Even so, it doesn't make sense to deliberately put your artwork in an environment full of UV rays - it makes it much harder for ArtResin's UV stabilization to do its job :)

Just to let you know the tiny 4oz each ones I bought last Novemberish do not have a manufacturing date stamped anywhere on either one of them. I forgot about them. They are still clear though.

You mentioned warming the resin for the coasters, how is that done? Also what do you use to seal the wood?
@Artresin
@Artresin 4 года назад
To seal your wood you can use a thin coat of ArtResin :) As for warming the resin we normally do that with a warm water bath as shown here: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/should-i-warm-epoxy-resin-in-a-water-bath-before-mixing

What should you seal wood with??? I know this is old video but hope you still see this question. Thanks Sheryl1 💙🎨💙
@Artresin
@Artresin Год назад
We often seal wood with a rough coat of ArtResin applied in a thin application with our gloved hand. Once it cures we sand it to remove any bubbles and to rough up the surface, then pour on our finish coat of ArtResin. The sealing layer will ensure that there is no off gassing into our finish layer. You may also choose any other sealer that works with wood, just ensure that you allow the sealer to dry/cure prior to applying ArtResin. For more information on sealing, have a look at our blog: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/should-i-seal-my-artwork-before-i-resin?_pos=12&_sid=ec300df97&_ss=r

How do I fix my pool side bar stools that I resined that have turned yellow?
@Artresin
@Artresin 4 года назад
Hi Natalie :) You could do a few things you could sand down through all of the yellow, clean and re-pour OR you could paint over top of your yellowed resin and once dry apply another coat. Have fun :)

I’m new. I did an amazing beach wood art. But in a few months the white turn yellow. Why?
@Artresin
@Artresin 2 года назад
Hello Joseline, sorry to hear about your art. There are many things that can cause this to happen including exposure to UV light and high temperatures, it also could be a reaction to a sealant/paint or even the paint not being fully dry before applying the resin. If you want us to take a look at the piece for you please email support@artresin.com with a photo and we can help you to trouble shoot further.

Maybe SOMEone here knows if it's possible to make clear again hardened resin??? (I THINK it's resin.) In 1973, I got a hanging lamp on chain with a large sized globe made out of squiggled poured resin and it has browned over the years. I always loved it clear, but have no idea what would be safe to soak it in to get it clear again....IF that's even possible. 😣 Otherwise, I guess I will have to spray paint it white. And THAT is if THAT is even possible or safe. Hope someone has experience with this problem. I'd LOVE to take it out of it's safehaven box and once again hang it in my room. Thank you so much, in advance, for any tried and true remedies or ideas. 😉

If it is epoxy you will not be able to remove the amber color that it has turned over the years unfortunately. The only way to remove old amber resin is to completely remove it and to pour again. This doesn't exactly should feasible for this piece. You should be able to paint over top of the old epoxy without any issues, you may want to put down a sealant first to help the paint adhere better. Hope this helps some! Have fun bringing it back to life :)

@@Artresin Yea, I didn't think it was possible to get it back to crystal clear. Darn. 😥 Thank you for the advice of a sealant before spray painting. Cheers! 😊

@Artresin

If you have a significant amount of one or the other, reach out to us at support@artresin.com and we can sell you just resin or just hardener to match up with what you have left. Alternately, you can dispose of your resin in the garbage following your local guidelines for waste disposal.

ALWAYS use gloves and respirstor
@Artresin
@Artresin 4 года назад
ArtResin conforms to ASTM D4236, meaning it is certified as safe for home use and non-toxic when used as directed, however there are some safety precautions that every user should follow: Wear gloves. ArtResin is very sticky in its liquid form, so gloves will protect the user from a mess, as well as skin irritation. Clean skin promptly with soap and water if it does come in contact with ArtResin. If ArtResin somehow comes in contact with your eyes, flush with water repeatedly and do not rub. Promptly seek medical attention. Work in a well ventilated area. Wear a respirator if ventilation is poor.

this is NOT what I needed to know. I have some family pictures under resin from the 60's and they've turned yellow over the years so I was trying to find a way to restore the color to them. but this seams to have been a wast of time.
@Artresin
@Artresin 3 года назад
Sorry this video is not geared towards your specific concern. The only way to attempt to restore your old resined photos would be to try to sand down and de-bulk as much of the old resin as possible being careful not to sand down into the photo itself. Removing some of the bulk of old yellowed resin it may work to diminish the density of the colour. It is not a sure fix- but something to consider. Once you have sanded down as much as you can, you can then pour a layer of ArtResin to restore the gloss and clarity.
@jakstrieder
@jakstrieder 3 года назад
thanks for the reply but I already guessed that to be the case, I was looking for alternative means by checking this video. sadly that's not a option since the resin is very thin on them, just a single clear lair I think. I'll probably have to take them to someone with image restoration skills and have new pictures made then put them in resin.

@@jakstrieder Would it be possible to get a digital image of the family pictures and use software to try and restore the Coloration and then reprint them?
