i’m brazilian and it’s totally possible to be proud of being of a certain nationality and still be concerned about how others perceive your country because most of the time the stereotypes are fake and no one wants their country to be know for something it is not. I can be proud of being brazilian and still be curious about what foreigners think of us and still dislike stereotypes about us because they are totally fake or represent just a small percentage of its people. It’s normal. Black people move to Asian countries hoping for a lovely experience, and instead get treated like shit; so it's good to have these videos so we aren't surprised and hurt if it happens. Before, I didn't know how racist Asians could be towards black people but I've learned that they have a long history of discriminating against people with dark skin. We want to improve the impression that the media and East Asian culture portrays of black people. People's opinions won't fix themselves unless they get exposed, and in the long run, challenged. It's not as much of a validation thing as it is news. People need to know that a lot of Chinese people still think Africans are hunter-gathers. People need to know that black people may not be able to get jobs because of their race, as Korea does not have anti-discrimination laws. People need to know that East Asia is still quite biased and xenophobic before they go to Korea expecting them to be super friendly and accommodating. Plus, after all the history Africans and diaspora have gone through, people still think lowly of us, and our community deals with insecurity as a result. When people appreciate black people, it feels nice. Just like when any other culture or people group gets praise.
