I used to work at Costco as a vendor CDS. It was very demanding, low pay and poor management, I quit 6 months later. On busy weekends, I usually give away 500~1,000 samples a day, it’s very exhausting and many customers have no gratitude for free samples.

The most annoying ones are not mentioned: 1. Please ask questions first BEFORE you touch/eat the samples. Ex: is this pork? kosher? etc. because if you touch it and you don't want it, they have to throw it in the garbage. 2. Even better if you READ the box display or sign without asking the most obvious ones that are written in bold/big letters on the box and sign. Ex: what is this? (can't you read?), what is plant-based?, what is clam? (they're not an English teacher, sorry). 3. Please throw the empty cups in the garbage after you eat the samples and not leave them on the tray/ sample station. (they're not waiters and don't get tips). Thank you for reading my comment.

So true, the people giving out the samples do not work there, I've been there representing a third party. The many rude people. At times I asked would you like to sample a product. Some were nice. Yet many gave me rude looks made nasty comments. I try to treat people as I wish to be treated. Lot of times I just set up the tables let people take a sample of they want. I never pushed a product on nobody. I answered what I could. Sometimes the full product was there. You can't put perishable products next to samples. If asked please just no thanks. It's no need to be rude I've been pregnant had been standing on my feet had rude people say well looks like you're had more than your share .I just smiled said my baby and I thank you for noticing. The looks on their faces was priceless. I often don't choose to sample. If asked I smile say no but thanks for asking. It seems since 2020. Some people have just become rude and downright nasty. I never take out my problems on nobody. I did make it a priority to know the product, what was in it. In case someone had a allergy. The product was set up if you wanted to buy it. Just be nice.once the samples are gone. They are gone. Meat,cheese, box crackers, cereals go fast.just saying.love,respect, and positivity always. ✌️🖖🕯️✨💓🦋🌻🙂👋. A little kindness can go a long way. I never shop hungry. No do I sample fruit.some things I've seen, I can't unsee.😁👣.

I work at CDS for almost I think about 4 months or so now, one of the most annoying things to me is that no matter how fast you dish out samples for the customers. There's always going to be another rude crowd waiting for samples and they might even call you out for it which is totally not cool. To be honest it's a demoralizing job and I might quit sooner than later, goes to show how people have grown up without good manners or respect for your fellow human being. Plus there was just one time where I was demonstrating some vitamins for women and children, some dumb males grab the women's vitamins I told him clearly it's for women and they didn't care and still devoured it like it was candy. I work at CDS and give out the samples at Costco. The most irritating thing to me is the “regulars”. People who come in EVERY day just for the free samples. They never have a shopping cart or ever buy anything and many will take hands full of samples. Also parents with a litter of children will show up and feed their entire crew samples and many are “regulars” . Some are even pushy with their own children to take and eat the samples.
@caroltruffa6811

There's the handful that are there to take full advantage, with zero intention to buy. They do not care what you have to say about the product, they are there to EAT! You would think, why not just come back to the station after doing some shopping, instead of remaining at the foodcart asking " when's it going to be ready?, "how many minutes?" " how come it's not ready?" They give the samplers a hard time when they cannot have samples ready fast enough-- AND are the first to berate. IF the sample employees happens to be a senior citizen, they are shown more grace. Are you going to stand there and chew out Grandma for not moving fast enough? These are the first to running to Costco managers to tell on them for being, slow, " rude" or "discriminatory"! This happens all too much -- mostly in locations where there are financially disadvantaged adjoining communities. Why? Because THEY CAN, and get away with it every time! AND a good many are not even members who CAN PURCHASE!!😮😮 Who gets written up and in jeopardy of being cut days over not making the sales expection.? The employee, of course! The employee has to deal with the people AND get scolded my the manager for not doing enough to make the sale... The job CAN be fun! This all depends on the location and DEMOGRAPHIC.

NO. They do not want to get rid of the samples...the vendor buys the product that is sampled, and the associate is responsible for keeping count of how much product is being consumed.
