In today's video we give you some ideas of what and where to eat when visiting Brasov, Romania. We take a look a some typical pastries found in bakeries all over Romania that are both delicious and inexpensive. Another stop is at a traditional Romania restaurant serving some hearty dishes with an old school vibe and staff dressed up in classic Romanian clothing. Finally, to change it up we decided to check out a local Chinese restaurant that, to be honest, exceeded my expectations by a mile.

Again updating. :D I went to Sergiana restaurant as well. I think well worth the price and some bites are on the house. Also I love Luca! I think I bought pastries there almost everyday I'm in Brașov. That exact guy from your video took most of my orders in the morning hahaha. As for coffee - I always went to '5 to go' - much cheaper compared to Starbucks and their cappuccino is not bad!

I could not get enough of the cheeze pretzels at Luca, they were freakin awesome and cheap! Yeah, Sergiana, in our opinion, is definitely a hidden gem for Brasov. Most people wouldn't notice it since it's not off the main square!@@thinkhumor5053

As romanian,i want to tell you that we like flavored alcoholic drinks.Palinca or tzuica, are made of fermented fruits like pears, apples,or grapes. We have a lot influence in our culture from Russia and Ukraine, but being under ottoman occupation for 450 years, austrian and hungarian, many cultural things were mixed and implemented. Like traditional dish name "sarmale",mici (barbecue meat balls). Part of our main meal is borch or ciorba,it's a sour soup, made with chicken, beef or pork meat, popular in eastern Europe.

As an American married to a Romanian woman, I can confirm everything what you say is true! Romanian food is delicious! 🤤 homemade țuică or pălincă is the best!

Papanasi, the main ingredient in the dough is a soft cheese called urda (вурда in UKR) but cottage cheese can also be sued if needed.

The cherry drink is called "visinata". It's not very strong, at around 20% alcohol and extremely sweet. It's mostly considered a woman's drink. It's traditional to have a shot of strong alcohol before heavy holiday meals, and that's the drink the fairer sex usually opts for. The other one is probably tuica (around 40% alcohol) or palinca (up to 60% or more) - the later being like pure gasoline, burning the way in and out of you body :)). Traditionally, if you want to test if your palinca is well made, not diluted with water or cheated with extra sugar and pharmaceutical ethanol(yes some unscrupulous people do that, especially the ones that sell in bulk), you shake the glass. There should be small bubbles forming on top that stay for a long time
